Under the day-to-day direction of the Associate Director and Lead, the primary role of the Portfolio Analyst is to assist and support the portfolio administrative and trade management functions for BMO Nesbitt Burns Managed Account Programs, coordinating with a number of stakeholders to ensure timely execution and completion of responsibilities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the processing and review of trades as a result of sub-advisors’ trade instructions and account-level requests in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support ensuring the continuous and accurate flow of trade-orders.
- Assist in the daily review and monitoring of client accounts.
- Support daily portfolio administrative processes such as corporate action reviews, model reconciliations, and constraint management.
- Provide operational support to identify, research, and resolve problems in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, including those related to trade corrections.
- Participate with compliance functions to ensure activities and processes are within guidelines and meet regulatory requirements.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of operational policies and procedures.
- Participate in the management of internal and external relationships.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of Canadian Securities Course.
- Enrollment in or completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation.
- 3+ years in investment industry experience, with a strong preference to overlay management.
- 3+ years of portfolio management and trade-related experience.
- University Degree (Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance).
- Sufficient qualifications and experience to attain the Associated Portfolio Manager or Portfolio Manager designation with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) is an asset.
- Experience in problem resolution.
- Experience in client support management.

- Strong understanding of overlay/portfolio management and trade-related concepts.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to think clearly under pressure.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Effective time-management and ability to learn, prioritize, and execute quickly to meet deadlines consistently.
- Highly flexible and adaptable to change.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Understanding of tax-related issues affecting investments.
- Proficient in utilizing investment-related software with a preference for overlay management software.
- Proficient computer literacy, advanced Excel skills.

$60,000.00 - $111,700.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
