DEPARTMENT: Marine

SUPERVISES: Roustabout

LOCATION: Offshore Newfoundland, Canada

JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Crane Operator is responsible for operating cranes for loading and unloading and mobilizing drilling equipment and other equipment and materials. The Assistant Crane Operator is also responsible for first-line maintenance of cranes and relevant lifting appliances.

PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent
  2. 0.5 years previous experience as Assistant Crane Operator with 6th Generation Ultra-Deepwater Semi-Submersible or similar installation
  3. 1+ year previous experience as Lead Roustabout with 6th Generation Ultra-Deepwater Semi-Submersible or similar installation
  4. Stage 2 Crane Certificate or Equivalent
  5. Structured and organized mindset
  6. High level of integrity
  7. Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  8. Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Safe operation of cranes.
  2. Operate equipment within his/her area of responsibility to ensure that the time for repairs and maintenance is kept to a minimum by observing valid maintenance procedures.
  3. Keep the work area, tools, and maintenance equipment clean and tidy.
  4. Safe job execution. Assistant Crane Operator shall also have job skills that include but are not limited to:
    • Safe operation of cranes and in accordance with procedure 'safe use of lifting equipment.'
    • Very good knowledge of lifting and hoisting appliances.
    • Safe use of guidelines
    • Operation as per rules and regulations.
    • Check that TBRA is made and covers ongoing operation.
  5. Observe to uncover any non-compliance and immediately report these to superior.
  6. Responsible for ensuring that all work is done safely and professionally and actively take part in safety meetings and other meetings.
  7. Carry out or assist in jobs or projects requested by immediate superior.
  8. Assist Crane Operator in updating electronic loading plan.
  9. Emergency duties according to the unit's emergency organization.
  10. Assemble, inspect, and sign-off of scaffolding under 5M.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
