1 Permanent, Part-time role: 21 Hours per week, evening hours and weekends may be required.

Salary: $109,700 -$117,500 per annum *To commensurate with experience

Location:This role will work in hybrid model which will require a minimum of 1 day per week in office. The Clinical Psychologist role works out of our Vaughan Office ( 8271 Keele Street, Vaughan ON L4K1Z1). Travel to other offices may be required.

What is the role?

The Clinical Psychologist is responsible for supporting the clinical operations (services and clinical consultation) of the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) Program at CMHA-York Region as part of a clinical team. The position provides support to staff who treat clients with anxiety and depression through a structured program. The treatment follows a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) framework.

Within the OSP program, the Clinical Psychologist is responsible for:

  • Clinical training: These include trainings for the onboarding of new staff, ongoing clinical education to staff, and the development of clinical trainings for additional treatment offerings.
  • Consultation: These include individual and group clinical consultations to ensure program fidelity and quality of services.
  • Risk coverage: This includes reviewing risk reports and providing timely feedback.

The Clinical Psychologist will actively contribute to quality improvement of the program, and participate in research activities. Appropriate training will be provided to the incumbent. In addition, the Clinical Psychologist will lead the development and implementation for overall therapy services within CMHA. Other duties as required.

In addition to compliance with all organizational policies and procedures, the incumbent is also expected to behave ethically, demonstrate competence in effective communication and team building, demonstrate effectiveness in working in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate confidence in decision-making and in building relationships.

Ontario Structured Psychotherapy: Overview

OSP is a stepped-care program, which means that clients start treatment that is the best fit for them with the shortest wait. OSP provides access to publicly funded, evidence-based, short-term, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and related approaches to clients with depression, anxiety, and anxiety-related conditions.

The program is delivered through a “hub and spoke” model; the hub provides shared administrative services and clinical quality oversight of the network, and community-based delivery sites deliver the majority of client services.

Minimum Requirements:

  • An adult competency with the College of Psychologists of Ontario is required, adolescent competency is an asset.
  • A Clinical Psychology competency with the College of Psychologists of Ontario is required.
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
  • Privately purchased and up to date professional liability insurance.
  • CA-CBT certification is an asset.
  • Graduate degree (Ph.D.) in Psychology (or another mental health discipline).
  • Extensive supervised clinical experience delivering cognitive-behavioural therapy.
  • 3-5 years’ clinical experience.
  • Experience teaching/training/supervising other mental health clinicians in delivery of CBT.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience with risk management, particularly with respect to suicide risk.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • A satisfactory and current Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Preferences:

  • Ability to work flexible working hours.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local and regional mental health services.
  • Knowledge of various legislations and standards for the practice of psychology in Canada.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Mental Health Act and related requirements.

This position reports to and is supervised by the Clinical Director.

Working Conditions: Works extensively at a desk using a computer up to 7 hours a day, standard office setting, evening hours are required. Weekend hours may be required.
