The Director, Corporate & Commercial Banking Treasury is accountable for ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures targeted towards the Corporate Banking business unit within GBM as well as the Commercial Banking business unit within Canadian Banking.
The individual will partner with Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking to develop a solid understanding of their business strategies and, with this knowledge, provide guidance to businesses and senior leadership on liquidity, asset, capital and funding risk mitigation and optimization.
Corporate and Commercial Banking Treasury serves as the single point of strategic leadership and has accountability for financial resource utilization including liquidity, balance sheet, and capital within the Bank.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Support the VP, Canadian Banking, Corporate Banking and Wealth Treasury to manage capital, liquidity and funding requirements associated with the business activity with the goal of optimizing balance sheet and funding utilization of the business units.
- Have ongoing communications with key stakeholders in Corporate and Commercial Banking to assist in meeting business line targets and provide advice on treasury-related issues.
- Provide communication of market insights, balance sheet, capital and liquidity information to the business lines ensuring those are translated into executable behaviour aligned with All-Bank goals and constraints.
- Coordinate with Finance, GT and Capital Management functions to assess impact to key metrics such as stress testing, leverage ratio, LCR, NSFR and capital by Corporate and Commercial Banking’s forecasted business activity and long-term strategic plans.
- Partner with GCM leads on any structured credit activity including staying highly engaged on pricing, concentration, tenor, asset type, FTP, strategic growth plans and other considerations.
- Partner with GTB, GBM Corporate Lending and other GT verticals to ensure the appropriate tools are in place to optimally execute business considering balance sheet, capital, funding and liquidity, competitive and regulatory landscape.
- Work towards the development of Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking level financial metrics to identify areas of the division where the bank can effectively deploy scarce financial resources.
- Coordinate with Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking to drive their overall balance sheet and funding optimization strategies in line with the asset profile of both GBM and Canadian Banking.
- Support the Secretaries in the production of the monthly GBM and CB ALCO packages.
- Act as a consultant, challenger and advocate for all FTP and liquidity-related matters within the scope of businesses supported.
- Ensure that any recommended changes have been fully vetted, communicated with key stakeholders and then appropriately prioritized for implementation.
- Actively partner with the business line on economic pricing of products/activity to incentivize appropriate behavior to drive shareholder return.
- Work with business partners on generating an appropriate weekly forecast of liquidity needs for provision to the liquidity reporting and forecasting team.
- Assist with Customer calls regarding Products, Pricing, Market and regulatory updates where necessary.
- Produce ad-hoc and strategic analysis/presentations to the SVP & Head, Global Banking and Markets, Canadian Banking and Global Wealth Management Treasury, senior GT management and GBM leadership with respect to capital, liquidity and related metrics for individual businesses within the division.
- Be responsible for on-going review of regulatory changes affecting funding and how they impact Corporate and Commercial Banking and liaise with the businesses on the internal application of these proposals.
- Advocate for resources to grow and develop local Treasury Teams to support the objectives of the SVP & Head, Global Banking and Markets, Canadian Banking and Global Wealth Management Treasury.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, mathematics or economics is a must. Master’s degree or recognized Professional designation in a specialized area of finance or business is an asset.
- A background in treasury, finance, capital management, or risk is required.
- In-depth knowledge of functions and activities including liquidity and funding risks associated with Corporate and Commercial Banking.
- Proficient in banking regulations (LCR, NSFR, NCCF) and sound practices (Basel, OSFI, etc.).
- Ability to understand the regulatory environment in all the regions and potential effects on investment, liquidity, structural risk and ALM activities.
- Ability to review balance sheet and business funding usage including forecasting.
- Results-driven with the ability to deal with complex issues and lead.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and project management skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Proven track record of leading and motivating a team of seasoned professionals.
- Superior communication skills with the ability to influence other senior executives across the organization.
