About

CTK Bio is a research, development and manufacturing Canadian cleantech company that converts wasted by-products into biodegradable / compostable plastic pellets and other high value materials designed to break down in managed and unmanaged environments.

Project

CTK Bio Canada is currently working on multiple organic waste based composite R&D projects with universities across Canada to replace traditional plastic. CTK Bio Canada has a manufacturing facility for resin production and anticipates to expand industrial-scale resin plant by 2026.

Job Summary

A Junior Scientist is a highly skilled and experienced researcher who leads scientific projects, teams, and initiatives. They are responsible for developing and implementing new methods, techniques, and technologies in their field of expertise.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  1. Research and Development: Conducting advanced research and development projects in their area of expertise, contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
  2. Project Management: Leading research projects, managing schedules, and project deliverables.
  3. Collaboration: Collaborating with other scientists, engineers, and stakeholders to achieve project goals and develop new technologies.
  4. Presentation and Communication: Presenting research results at conferences, publishing papers, and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Technical Expertise: Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in their field, providing technical expertise and guidance, and using their expertise to inform strategic decisions.
  6. Problem Solving: Identifying and solving complex technical problems, and developing innovative solutions to scientific and engineering challenges.

Education and Experience

The requirements for a junior scientist position can vary depending on the field and the company, but typically a Junior scientist would have:

  • Education: Degrees in a relevant scientific field, such as chemistry, physics, engineering.
  • Experience:
    • 1-3 years of relevant experience in scientific research, development, or product design.
    • A proven track record of publishing research papers and/or leading successful projects.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing teams and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
    • Expertise in a specific scientific domain, as well as a broad understanding of the scientific landscape and emerging trends in the field.
  • In addition to the above requirements, a junior scientist may also have:
    • A strong network of professional connections and collaborations.
    • A strong ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • A strategic perspective on the applications and commercial potential of their research.
    • Successful candidates are required to be legally eligible to work for full-time-based employment in Canada.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract, Internship / Co-op

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Additional pay:
