Why this role is important?

Director, Preventative Care

Reporting to the Senior Director, Pharmacy Services, the Director is responsible for leading growth and expansion of preventative care pharmacy programs and services within Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw pharmacies across Canada to position our pharmacies as the primary point of access to the healthcare system in the community.

You will lead a team of Sr. Managers and Managers and work closely with cross-functional teams and external partners. This role is instrumental in transforming how Canadians view, access and experience pharmacy services. To achieve this, you will develop Omni-channel strategies to streamline communication across customer-facing channels (website, PC Health app, retail stores) and identify relevant technologies to support customer experience.

Preventative care portfolio includes, but is not limited to, vaccinations, travel health, immunizations, screening and other services. You will assess market opportunities to foster innovation and expansion of the portfolio with new go-to-market strategies, and lead planning for enablement of new services based on provincial regulatory changes. Key KPIs in this role include meeting or exceeding planned service, delivering planned initiatives on time, budget, and fostering team growth and engagement.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide leadership and coaching to meet key objectives while supporting collaborative and agile work practice as well as foster team members’ development and engagement.
  • Identify new ways to grow customer base, utilizing market insights, planning consumer campaigns, leveraging our retail stores, websites, PC Health app and other customer-facing channels as they emerge.
  • Work closely with Digital Health and Marketing teams, develop plans on how to streamline communication through available channels to optimize customer experience.
  • Work closely with technology partners to identify and develop business requirements documentation.
  • Identify new collaborative partnerships across the organization and with external partners as well as other healthcare providers to foster awareness of pharmacy services and inter-professional collaboration.
  • Oversee enablement of pharmacy scope of practice and reimbursement, ensuring adherence to provincial guidelines and regulations as practice tools, SOPs, training and store communications are developed.
  • Keep abreast of pharmacy regulatory changes and healthcare trends, ensuring your team maintains documentation of changes for the benefit of the organization as primary care subject matter experts.
  • Support advocacy for scope and funding expansion through collaboration with Professional and Government Affairs teams, providing input on proposed regulations and developing materials for external stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for financial forecasting and support development of annual and multi-year financial plans as well as project budget plans, working closely with the Pricing & Planning teams.
  • Develop timely updates for Senior Leadership Team on financial results, status of initiatives, including preparation of presentation decks for a variety of communication cascades.
  • Lead large, multi-stakeholder working groups for select initiatives with a project management approach to identify key workstreams and stakeholders, develop work plans, timelines and report on progress.

What You'll Need:

  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience, including strategic planning, execution of digital healthcare solutions, consumer communication, healthcare program development and leading cross-functional projects/teams.
  • University degree, preferably in the area of Healthcare / Digital Marketing / Business / Strategy Development.
  • Registered Pharmacist preferred.
  • People management experience, with ability to clearly establish team’s goals, empower and delegate.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills, experienced at establishing relationships at all levels.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to develop presentations and deliver them to all levels of the organization in an engaging and meaningful way, adjusting to the audience; superior Microsoft Power Point skills.
  • A creative thinker who is comfortable working with ambiguity. Superior problem-solving skills, drawing on different perspectives to identify best solutions, and evaluate risks and opportunities.
  • Resiliency, to be flexible, adaptable, and agile with above average ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. Thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing focused work with a high sense of urgency, when required.
  • Proficient in financial analysis and modeling; ability to build financial business cases and analyze reports.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment and collaborating with Legal and Regulatory teams and adhering to established processes.
  • Healthcare and/or Pharmacy experience a definite asset.
