Position Overview
The Assistant Terrain Park Supervisor works as part of the Mountain Operations team. They will assist in all aspects of the Terrain Parks including training new staff, ensuring all Terrain Park staff are competent in the Canada West Ski Area Association’s Terrain Parks Resource Guide as well as Marmot Basin’s procedures and policies, constructing/maintaining/testing Terrain Park features, ensuring the Terrain Park department is coordinated with the needs of other departments, and generally overseeing the daily departmental requirements under the direction (or in the absence) of the Terrain Park Supervisor. The Assistant Terrain Park Supervisor will also help maintain records and documents such as daily Terrain Park logs, Terrain Park incident reports, employee training files, etc. The incumbent should expect to be working outside in any, all and sometimes adverse weather conditions. This is a full-time seasonal role, 5 days out of 7 per week. Alberta Employment Standards regarding probationary periods apply.
Qualifications
- Ski Industry experience (Terrain Park/Freestyle experience preferred)
- Previous supervisory experience
- CSIA/CASI Freestyle Instructor/Coach certification
- Able to ski/snowboard in all types of mountain terrain in varying conditions
- Risk management experience
- Physically & mentally fit, able to lift/push/pull 55lbs
- Capable and willing to work outside, at times in severe weather environment
- Valid class 5 driver’s license (or better).

Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Plan the layout and construction of the Terrain Parks in collaboration with the Terrain Park Supervisor
- Ensure all features, signage and fencing are maintained & tested as per Best Practices/CWSAA guidelines
- Coordinate Grooming/Snowmaking requirements with the Grooming/Snowmaking Supervisor
- Assist Safety Operations in responding to Terrain Park related emergencies and accidents
- Manage staff schedules and departmental payroll requirements to ensure sufficient staff for safe operation
- Training and scheduling as per Ski Marmot Basin’s Terrain Park Training Manual, ski industry best practices and company policies/procedures
- Ensure all Terrain Park staff are competent in Terrain Park duties, daily operating procedures and emergency procedures
- Help maintain departmental records and documents including Stock Photos of all Terrain Park features upon construction and whenever any alterations are made
- Ensure the Terrain Park activities are coordinated with other departments
- Provide onsite supervision of employees
- Manage performance issues in a timely manner in the absence of the Terrain Park Supervisor using Company Corrective Action procedures
- Work in a safe efficient manner; point out any safety concerns that would put any employee or guest in an unsafe situation
- Good working knowledge and understanding of all Terrain Park/safety procedures; ensure staff compliance and excellence in same
- Help maintain an inventory of all Terrain Park tools & materials
- Ensure Terrain Park features are always maintained
- Ensure all opening/closing procedures are followed and completed in the Terrain Parks daily.
