Job Overview

The Intermediate Land Analyst is responsible for the administration of land rights in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards. The position involves regular communication with Clients, Analyst team, Lead Analyst, Project Coordinator, and Management while ensuring timelines are met and files are accurate. The Intermediate Land Analyst will provide expertise and mentorship to Junior Land Analysts and will provide additional support for the distribution and audit of land work.

Responsibilities

Internal:

  • Provide strong leadership and present a high level of professionalism to all within the company; lead by example and ensure the most basic tasks within the Land Analyst team are executed.
  • Act as a key liaison between clients and the team while providing senior-level support in accordance with LandSolutions standards.
  • Provide professional problem-solving abilities; assist and guide the Analyst team.
  • Manage and monitor status reports/CSI to ensure client requirements and timelines are met.
  • Coordinate with the Project Coordinator and Lead Analyst to designate resources and distribute work as required. Prioritize projects and ensure LSI/client commitments are being met.
  • Audit final packages for quality and technical completeness.
  • Train and utilize all internal databases such as SharePoint, BigTime, LandTraxx, and provide active feedback in future developments of the program.
  • Ensure analysts are provided with the necessary technical support and training to complete their daily tasks and meet their annual goals.
  • Ensure merge setups are in place for existing and new clients; provide training as required.
  • Assist in any Analyst duties that may be required to ensure timelines are met and completed accurately.
  • Assist the Lead Analyst with performance management of the Junior Land Analysts throughout the year; provide feedback, future development, acknowledgment, corrective actions, and/or formal performance improvement plans.
  • Participate in other duties as assigned by the Lead Analyst or Management.

External:

  • Accountable for continued self-improvement and education.
  • Liaise with government bodies and understand relevant regulations associated with land acquisition operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of changes in surface acquisition related industry requirements.
  • Understand appropriate surface acquisition documents such as lease agreements and crossing agreements.
  • Have an expert understanding of the acquisition process on Crown land requirements.
  • Interact with clients to promote relationships and team building, ensuring all client needs are met.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Post-secondary certificate, degree, or diploma in land or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable acts, guides, and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of the acquisition process and required documentation.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and government.
  • Experience in the Upstream, Midstream, Power, and Renewable Energy Sectors.
  • Knowledge of various federal and provincial processes and regulations.
  • Proficiency in programs such as SPINII, ETS, AbaData, SharePoint, Pandell Projects, Microsoft Office Suite, GeoAmps, OneStop, EDS is considered an asset.
  • Good organizational and communication skills, including written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong time management and writing skills.
  • Experience and understanding of Windows software, Word, and Excel.
  • Commissioner for Oaths for Alberta and/or other provinces is an asset.
