SUMMER MANAGER
Summary:
DSAS is hiring two (2) Summer Managers for the 2025 summer term from May 1, 2025 to August 31, 2025. DSAS is an organization that seeks to support students in navigating University policies and processes. We deal with academic and Student Code of Conduct cases, as well as those pursuant to other University policies. We participate in facilitating informal and formal resolutions. DSAS is seeking to welcome an incoming team that will work together to support a roster of hard-working advocates in handling an increasing demand for services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Intake and Inbox Management:
- Create and maintain case assignment schedules;
- Manage the DSAS email inbox and all incoming inquiries and requests;
- Respond to client requests for support and guide them through the intake process;
- Ensure all necessary information is provided and organized in the intake system.
- Case Management:
- Handle cases and assist clients as necessary;
- Meet promptly with clients and attend hearings or other formal processes as required;
- Manage client needs until completion of the case;
- Provide quick and responsive communication;
- Track caseload, deadlines, and case progression to ensure all;
- Liaise with AIOs and the Coordinator of Discipline and Appeals to manage case volumes;
- Liase with the DSAS Executive, Manager of Discipline and Appeals, and/or Ombudsperson to discuss questions or complex cases when support is needed.
- Service Management:
- Keep the DSAS Executive informed of any issues or projects that arise during the summer term;
- Attend regular meetings with the Ombudsperson to discuss ongoing case trends, student concerns, and systemic issues that either party has identified;
- As required, serve as liaison between the Service and other members of the University, including (but not limited to): Administrators, Vice Provosts, Faculty Deans, AIOs, Human Rights and Equity Services, Accessibility Services, Residence Life Managers, DSU Societies, Faculty student groups, and others;
- Undertake any projects identified by the DSAS managers or DSU Offices Steering Committee for completion during the summer term.
- DSU Responsibilities:
- Administer the Service on behalf of the DSU;
- Report to the department supervisor, Vice President, Finance & Operations;
- Ensure the Service operates according to appropriate DSU Bylaws, policies and DSAS Terms of Reference and Operational Policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Current Schulich School of Law student;
- Current (or former) DSAS volunteer.
Recommended:
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Experience with the Microsoft Suite including: Outlook, Onedrive, Excel, etc;
- Good client-relations skills;
- Demonstrated ability handling different types of cases (AIO, SDC, Reinstatement);
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Ability to work independently;
- Self-motivated;
- Strong commitment to DSAS and DSU mandates;
- Demonstrated commitment to anti-oppressive practices.
DSAS is hiring the Summer Managers from May 1, 2025 to August 31, 2025, at 17.80 per hour for 20 hours weekly during the Summer term.
