Job Responsibilities

1. Keep survey information in systematic order.
2. Assist in the calculation, analysis, and computation of measurements obtained during field surveys.
3. Assist in the preparation of detailed drawings, charts, and plans.
4. Analyze latitude, longitude, and angles and compute trigonometric and other calculations to plot features, contours, and areas to a specific scale.
5. Assist survey engineers or professional surveyors to develop methods and procedures for conducting field surveys.
6. Conduct field surveys and operate survey instruments and computer equipment to measure distance, angles, elevations, and contours.
7. Determine precise geographic locations using global positioning systems (GPS) equipment.
8. Prepare detailed drawings, charts, plans, and survey notes and reports.
9. Record measurements and other information obtained during field survey activities.
10. Supervise and coordinate field survey activities.
11. Supervise technicians, technologists, and other engineers.
12. Train other workers.
