DOWNTOWN HELPER

File Number: SV24-176

Position Type: Temporary Full-Time

Hourly Rate: $21.01 - $23.02 per hour

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Department: Transportation and Operations Services Department

Employee Group: Non-Union

Work Location: 31 Wallbridge Crescent Belleville and other locations within the City

Closing Date: January 10, 2025, at 4:30 PM

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

Reporting directly to the Operations Supervisors or designates, the Downtown Helper will perform general cleaning and grounds maintenance in the downtown area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Grass trimming
  • Sidewalk sweeping
  • Garbage removal
  • Reporting any major maintenance issues on City roads or sidewalks to supervisor
  • General cleaning duties
  • Interacting with community members providing a positive representation of the City.

Note: Above duties are representative of a typical position and are not to be construed as all-inclusive.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must hold a valid class G Driver’s License for the Province of Ontario with a clean driving record
  • Able to operate small power equipment used in maintenance/cleaning work
  • Must be physically fit and able to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Good customer relations skills
  • Must have safety footwear

RECRUITMENT PROCESS:

Stage 1 – Interviews: Interviews will be scheduled with successful candidates between February 15, 2025 and March 1, 2025.

Stage 2 – Offer letter and Onboarding Paperwork: Offers will go out before the end of March 2025 an onboarding paperwork date will be included in your offer letter for documents to be returned.

Stage 3 – Start Date: This anticipated commencement of this position is approximately May 2025 until end of August 2025.
