REPORTS TO: Director of Economic Development & Tourism
General Purpose:
- The primary function is to help direct residents and visitors during the reconstruction of Grand River Street North in Downtown Paris.
- Downtown and Visitor Ambassador individuals will be interacting with the public and providing directions and information about the reconstruction of Grand River Street North.
- The Ambassadors will also assist in planning and executing interactive events during the summer months, with a number of these events relating to the ongoing construction.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- The Ambassadors, working individually and in teams of two, will walk the downtown area. During these walkabouts, the Ambassadors will engage with the people who live, work, and are visiting the area, and will be educating, engaging, and connecting people to services, resources, and tourist attractions in the County of Brant.
- Ambassadors will also be creating fun and interactive activities on the sidewalks of downtown Paris to engage residents and visitors.
- Ambassadors will also be stationed in the visitor information booth located in the Wincey Mills and expected to maintain and display tourism collateral while also answering questions from visitors or residents.
- Ambassadors will also represent the County of Brant at various events and businesses providing information on tourism assets.
- Provide administrative support to various Tourism initiatives.
- Provide marketing & promotional support through organizing and maintaining promotional materials.
Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Established computer skills and experience using software.
- Understanding of key components of a successful visitor experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with self-direction, while contributing to larger team objectives.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the flexibility to meet changing demands.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
- Initiative to participate in positive, appropriate conversation at a professional level.
- Ability to work remotely.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Outgoing and approachable demeanor.
- Possesses exceptional verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of the communities within the County of Brant.
- First Aid Certified.
- Valid class G driver’s license and use of a vehicle with an acceptable driver’s abstract is required.
Education:
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary diploma/degree program, preferably in the study areas of Marketing, Tourism, Commerce, or Communications.
Duration:
May to August (35 hours/week)
Hourly Rate:
$21.88 (2024)

You must be enrolled in a post-secondary Institution and returning to school in the fall in order to qualify for this position with the exception of completing a final co-op term.
