Join Our Team as a Donor Relations and Stewardship Specialist!

Are you passionate about building meaningful relationships and making a difference? Saskatchewan Polytechnic is looking for an experienced, friendly and dedicated Donor Relations and Stewardship Specialist to join our team.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in engaging and acknowledging our donors, fostering exemplary relationships, and encouraging increased philanthropic support for our institution. You will do this through implementing and coordinating a comprehensive stewardship and donor relations program that engages and acknowledges Saskatchewan Polytechnic donors.

The Donor Relations and Stewardship Specialist works with Advancement staff to oversee gift and sponsorship acceptance and acknowledgement, meaningful donor recognition, impactful stewardship reporting, and engaging donor experiences. You will also serve as the external point of contact with contracted external service providers and have the following key responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Strategies: Create and execute a comprehensive stewardship and donor relations strategy for all giving levels, including leadership, major donors, students, alumni, and existing donors.
  • Advise and Support: Provide guidance to the Advancement team in donor cultivation and stewardship.
  • Professional Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with local, national, and international donor relations professionals.
  • Create and Implement: Manage a system for prioritizing, preparing, sending, and tracking stewardship and donor relations activities and reports.
  • Process Improvement: Monitor and assess processes to improve procedures, reports, tools, and controls.
  • Compliance and Alignment: Ensure alignment with Canada Revenue Agency legislation and SaskPolytech’s fundraising policies.
  • Supervision: Provide supervision, guidance, and training to the Donor Relations and Stewardship team.
  • Communication Tools: Collaborate with Communications & Marketing to develop stewardship communication tools.
  • Event Coordination: Manage and coordinate campaign-related launches and celebration events for donors.
  • Engagement Opportunities: Proactively seek opportunities to engage with donors.
  • Collaboration: Work with Leadership and Annual Giving Officers to steward individual and corporate sponsorship.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Specific Accountabilities Duties Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA): To be a successful candidate you will possess the following criteria:

  • Diploma in Business, Social Science or a field related to market research, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Three years experience in fundraising, stewardship, donor relations, communications or marketing, including experience supervising others.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct in-depth research.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and knowledge of relationship management systems/databases (i.e. Raiser’s Edge) to conduct in-depth research and donor/project strategies.
  • Effective analytical skills with ability to provide concise written and verbal communication with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle several projects simultaneously in a team-oriented environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, working well within a team environment, across departments, and with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective organizational and project management skills.
