Position Title: Dock AttendantLocation: O’Rourke Family Estate, Lake Country, BCEmployment Type: SeasonalReports To: General Manager

Position Summary

O’Rourke Family Estate is seeking a seasonal Dock Attendant to manage operations at our three docks and boathouse during the Summer boating season. The Dock Attendant will provide exceptional service to guests arriving by boat, oversee the safe use of our docks and boat lifts, and facilitate transportation to our winery locations via shuttle. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors in a beautiful lakeside environment while delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Dock Operations:

  • Assist with docking and undocking of boats, ensuring safe handling and secure mooring.
  • Operate and maintain boat lifts and oversee the cleanliness and organization of the boathouse.
  • Perform regular inspections of docks, boat lifts, and related equipment to ensure safety and functionality.

Guest Experience:

  • Greet and assist guests arriving by boat, providing a warm and professional welcome.
  • Ensure a smooth transition for guests traveling from the docks to the wineries.
  • Respond to guest inquiries about the estate, wineries, and facilities with a high level of service.

Shuttle Transportation:

  • Operate the estate shuttle to transport guests safely and comfortably between the docks and winery locations.
  • Maintain a clean and guest-ready shuttle environment at all times.
  • Assist guests with loading and unloading during transport.

Maintenance and Safety:

  • Conduct basic maintenance tasks for docks, boats, and lifts as needed.
  • Monitor weather conditions and take appropriate action to ensure safety.
  • Follow established procedures for safety, emergencies, and operational concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Previous experience in customer service or hospitality preferred.
  • Experience driving a shuttle or similar passenger vehicle is an asset.
  • Familiarity with boating and dock operations is an advantage.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required for shuttle operation).
  • Basic knowledge of boating safety and operations.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Boating certification or experience operating small vessels (preferred but not required).
