Job Description:
As a Dock & Grounds Attendant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the docks, grounds, and facilities at Trident Yacht Club. You will interact with members, assist with boat arrivals and departures, ensure the upkeep of the grounds, and be a valuable part of a hardworking team.
Hours:
40 hours per week, variable
June to September: Daily, 12:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Off: Tuesday
Pay:
$20.75 per hour + 4% vacation pay
Statutory Holidays (if worked): $31.13 per hour + 4% vacation pay
Job Requirements
Personal Qualities:
- Personable and friendly, with a passion for helping others
- Takes initiative to identify and complete tasks that need attention
- Reliable and punctual, capable of working independently
- Knowledgeable about water and boating safety (or willingness to obtain Pleasure Craft Operator Card)
- Able to follow directions from the club manager, rear commodore, and vice commodore
Areas of Responsibility:
Boats:
- Assist with dock lines during boat arrivals and departures
- Maintain the dock master’s office
- Monitor VHF radio for calls on channel 71
- Keep the vacancy board in the dock master’s office up to date
- Register and assign slips to visiting boats, ensuring proper fees and documentation
- Aid with pump-outs for visiting boats, collecting fees and keeping records
- Assist the fleet captain with boating events
Docks:
- Walk docks daily to check pins, chains, power cords, and mooring lines
- Inspect and clean dock lights regularly
- Check river water filters weekly
- Clear floating weeds around docks as necessary
- Paint dock areas as directed
House & Grounds:
- Cut grass and water plants as needed (planters may need daily watering)
- Conduct landscape repairs as directed
- Straighten and tidy chairs/tables in Bateau Lounge and on the patio
- Sweep and tidy the deck at the harbor master’s office
- Ensure barbeques have propane and are in working order once a week
- Remove garbage from containers to the dumpster daily
- Clean any refuse from the building and grounds
- Paint areas and perform minor repairs as directed
General:
- Refer major problems to the Manager, Rear Commodore, or Vice Commodore
- Familiarize yourself with the policy and procedure handbook
- Interact with members and guests, particularly on weekends
Requirements:
- Pleasure Craft Operator Card
- VHF Radio Operators License
- Smart Serve certification
