We are looking for a Division Vice President, Chemistry Operations Canada in 90 Gough Rd, Markham, ON L3R 5V5 CAN. Your mission will be to:

Position Summary

The Division Vice President of Chemistry is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, process improvement, operational excellence and innovation of the chemistry team within the organization. This role is pivotal in driving scientific advancements, developing new processes and technologies, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The position will lead a team of managers and scientists, collaborate with cross-functional departments, support the sales team and contribute to the company’s long-term vision by advancing chemistry-based solutions.

Qualifications Required

  • Education: Bachelors degree plus >15 years experience in a related chemistry lab environment or Masters degree or PH. D and >10 years relevant industry work experience (Advanced degree preferred).
  • >8 years in a direct people leadership role, demonstrating progressive leadership experience with increased responsibility.
  • Advanced knowledge of food chemistry, or food science.
  • Proven track record in leading scientific teams and driving innovation.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks (e.g., FDA, EPA, ISO 17025, GMP).
  • Excellent people leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong operational understanding of key analytical instrumentation (HPLC, LCMS, GCMS, GC, ICPMS, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing operations in a third party testing lab environment.
  • Strong delegation and empowering skills to promote autonomy to cultivate an environment where leaders grow and thrive.
  • Working knowledge of LIMS systems that support a third party testing lab.
  • Direct financial oversight responsibility including, P&L, budgeting, cost analysis, and Capital expenditure creation.

Qualifications Desired

  • An in-depth knowledge of laboratory operations, scientific project design, Standard Operating Procedures, and the food laboratory.

  • Develop efficient steps for execution of viability business propositions and processes; ensures complete investigations to minimize risk and maximize opportunity.
  • Evaluates performance of each business unit and makes recommendations for improvement (vendors, personnel schedules, orders, inventory processes and workforce solution transformation).

  • Recognizes a need and ensures accountability by taking immediate action to improve organizational culture, processes, and services. Offers resources and direction to support implementation.
  • Understands and overcomes resistance to change; explaining benefits, demonstrating sensitivity to fears, gaining commitment. Able to use ideas and plan implementation.

  • Provide technical expertise to support new process or analytical development, risk assessments, and crisis management in food safety incidents.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills are essential for effective customer, client, and employee interactions. Expected to regularly communicate with Customer Care, Sales and other team members in Operations.
  • Expected to routinely present to clients, leadership team, vendors, and employee network on chemistry topics.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • This position spends time in both office and laboratory environments; occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals and materials may occur and temperatures may vary. Evening and weekend hours might be necessary to best service our clients.

Travel

  • Frequent travel (35%) is required to attend meetings, seminars, training sessions, client sites and other laboratories.

Salary Range: $160K-180K Annually
