CHEO is recruiting a Division Chief and full-time pediatric cardiologist to actively lead clinical care, teaching, and research in the Division of Cardiology within the Department of Pediatrics. The Division of Cardiology is comprised of 7 clinicians who are dynamic, highly engaged, and dedicated to excellence in patient care, academic activity, and research.

The Division provides cardiology subspecialty care to children and youth ranging in age from fetal life to age 18 years. Outpatient and inpatient general cardiology care is provided, with additional specialized services including non-invasive electrophysiology, fetal cardiology, inherited arrhythmia, cardiomyopathy, and neuromuscular disease. A full complement of cardiac imaging modalities is utilized, including echocardiography (transthoracic and transesophageal), cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, and cardiac catheterization (diagnostic and interventional). Cardiovascular surgery is performed on site, with collaboration with The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, under a 1 program – 2 sites model.

The Division Chief at CHEO oversees the safety and quality of care provided as well as the medical staff within the Division. As such, the Division Chief has responsibilities for medical staff leadership, operational resource oversight, in collaboration with their administrative dyad, and the Division’s academic activity. Additionally, the Division chief is a member of the Cardiovascular Leadership Team. The Division Chief also maintains a clinical and academic role within the division.

Candidates must have strong operational and academic leadership skills and a proven record of achievement in comprehensive patient care, clinical program development, education, research, and/or quality assurance. Candidates must be eligible for a full-time academic appointment in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa. While English is the language of the health record, functionality in French is an asset.

Candidates for this position must have an MD, certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in pediatric cardiology or equivalent, and be eligible for licensing in the Province of Ontario.
