Nova Scotia Legal Aid provides free legal information, advice, and representation to Nova Scotians facing criminal, family, or social justice issues, through 24 service offices and 3 sub-offices, with a focus on low income and equity-deserving populations as well as those experiencing gender-based, intimate partner, or family violence.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION
Reporting directly to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advisor, the DEI Project Coordinator will work closely with the Advisor to support the implementation of NSLA’s Strategic Plan for DEI. This individual will be responsible for the development of reports and documentation, coordination of projects and initiatives, event planning, research, and the development of recommendations. The DEI Project Coordinator will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to collaboration and working both independently and as part of a team. In addition, this position requires a strong desire to learn and grow combined with a can-do, solution focused approach that realizes results in collaboration with staff and interested parties. This position is required to administer the duties of their position in a manner that reflects cultural humility and the ability to work interculturally and across sectors.
Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, organize, and analyze information; identify and assess options; and make recommendations that support NSLA’s vision for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Graduate of a post-secondary institution, a recognized diploma program or equivalent.
