Distribution Centre Supervisor

Our client, an industry leading Canadian distributor has tasked Lock Search Group to find their next Distribution Centre Supervisor. The supervisorial role will be responsible for leading the ‘Overnight Team” for this best-in-class organization. This position will be involved in leading and guiding the warehouse team, ensuring a safety-conscious culture, and managing night operations in order picking, receiving, and truck loading.
The ideal candidate should identify process improvement opportunities, collaborate with other departments for superior customer service, and maintain productivity standards. Additionally, they will facilitate training, evaluate labour needs, and provide support to co-workers when needed. Responsibilities:
- Lead, guide, and oversee the warehouse team, providing mentorship and supervision to all employees.
- Foster a safety-conscious culture by consistently promoting and enforcing adherence to safety procedures, ensuring all work is performed efficiently and with safety as a top priority.
- Manage and supervise daily operations in order picking, receiving, and truck loading areas.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity, ultimately meeting budget targets and operational metrics.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure exceptional internal and external customer service.
- Maintain consistent adherence to standard productivity and error benchmarks.
- Facilitate orientation and ongoing training programs for employees.
- Evaluate manpower needs to uphold established service levels.
Qualifications:
- Must have 2-4 years of supervisory experience in transportation, operations, or distribution within a Unionized setting.
- Comfortable working a Night shift with a 9:00 PM Start time (Mon-Fri)
- Proficiency in transportation routing is required.
- Proven track record in training, motivating, and coaching employees.
- Exceptional written, oral communication, and listening skills.
- Strong ability to multitask and possess excellent time management abilities.
- Outstanding planning, organization, and customer relations capabilities.
- Excellent leadership, customer relations, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in working with Windows-based software programs, Transportation tracking systems, and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
