Position Summary

The Dispatcher is responsible for supporting and monitoring all on road activities completed by drivers during the shift. Your role involves assigning routes and loads to drivers, monitoring their progress, and ensuring on-time deliveries while responding to unforeseen challenges such as traffic or weather disruptions. Additionally, you will maintain effective communication with drivers, customers, and other departments to streamline logistics and contribute to the efficient and reliable operation of our trucking services.

Location: Calgary, AB

Schedule: Three days a week (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

Full time, Permanent role

Start Time: 5:30 AM to 6:00 PM

What You Will Do

1. Plan and dispatch drivers
2. Ensure customer satisfaction
3. Keep Operations and Terminal Management apprised of all problems encountered, driver issues, customer’s comments and related issues
4. Liaise with Interline Carriers and Super Operators to coordinate drivers and our expectations
5. Be aware of Drivers Hours of Service and pending weather issues.
6. Maintain satisfactory levels of on time delivery by ensuring all targeted deliveries are made on schedule and advise in advance of any foreseen issues
7. Liaise with dispatch support and other inner office departments on problems encountered, customer’s comments and related issues
8. Complete and submit tasks and reports in a timely manner
9. Identify lane imbalances
10. In preparation for annual vacation insure back up is designated and aware of your daily duties. Notify your contacts of the same.
11. Assist with general office duties of the department. Answer the phones and emails, filing, photocopying
12. Become familiar with the company’s policies and procedures
13. Represent the company in a professional manner
14. Maintain a clean and orderly work station
15. Participate in ongoing training, cross training and assist in other positions required
16. Assist with unforeseen issues as required
17. Other duties as assigned by management

What You’ll Bring

1. 3-5 years Linehaul Dispatch experience
2. 1-2 years Leadership experience
3. Transportation industry experience would be a strong asset
4. Ability to work independently and in a team environment, able to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines
5. Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service

1. Capable verbal and written communication skills
2. Strong attention to detail
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs; Word, Excel, and Outlook
4. Proven experience in handling multiple priorities
5. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and be able to work overtime if the demand arises
