Position Summary
We are seeking a Dispatcher Manager to join our dynamic team and play a critical role in overseeing the dispatch operations, supporting the Director of Trucking Operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong management background, combined with experience in the trucking and logistics industry. As the Dispatcher Manager, you will supervise a team of dispatchers, ensuring smooth and efficient operations, while maintaining high safety and service standards. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to take on a leadership role in an expanding company.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and manage a team of 6 dispatchers, ensuring that operations run smoothly, and goals are achieved.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to the dispatch team, fostering a positive and productive environment.
- Take responsibility for scheduling and dispatching trucking resources, ensuring that all deliveries are completed on time and per client requirements.
- Supervise day-to-day operations when the Director of Trucking is not in the office, making critical decisions and providing leadership support.
- Monitor driver performance, safety, and compliance, working closely with the Safety and Compliance Manager.
- Ensure efficient communication between the dispatch team, drivers, and clients to resolve issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of all dispatch activities, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize logistics processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure that the dispatch team adheres to all company policies, industry regulations, and customer service standards.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a trucking/logistics environment, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role.
- Strong understanding of trucking operations, dispatching systems, and logistics.
- Experience managing a team of dispatchers or similar roles.
- Knowledge of both Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations is an asset.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage crisis situations effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Outstanding communication skills in both English and French.
- Proficient in using dispatch software and other relevant technology.
