Marketing Statement

The Metro Vancouver Transit Police Service is the Lower Mainland’s newest police service and the only one of its kind in Canada. In joining the Transit Police, you will be playing a key role in the safety of commuters and members of communities throughout the Lower Mainland. You will be helping to build the image of transit as a safe and desirable alternative to the personal automobile, which will ensure that the Lower Mainland remains a livable region for generations to come.

Responsibilities

This is specialized work performed in support of the General Investigations Unit and Crime Suppression Team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Recording statistical data
  2. Converting all hard copy documents to PDF in preparation for inclusion in the RTCC
  3. Ensuring all documents are named in accordance to the MOU
  4. Converting investigative data to PDF
  5. Audio vetting
  6. Vetting RTCC's
  7. Scribing of investigative meetings
  8. Attending briefings to maintain knowledge and the status of investigations
  9. Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Two (2) years previous experience working in a police environment, considerable knowledge of the methods, techniques and processes employed in searching new and historical files and databases, assessing, compiling and presenting information as well as considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing the work performed.

Previous experience and training in Major Case Management and disclosure. A further period of up to six (6) months in the position is required to gain knowledge of TransLink and its subsidiaries’ operations, police roles and responsibilities, departmental and police information systems policies and procedures. Must pass security screening (including fingerprinting) and intake interview, for access to police databases.

EDUCATION

Completion of Grade 12 plus 2 years post-secondary education in legal administration with courses in criminology, plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience in Major Case Management and disclosure.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions. Please note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Once in the process, testing may be used to confirm this suitability and all internal applicants will be required to obtain a pass mark of 70% on each component of the testing to demonstrate a minimum level of proficiency in the position.

Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week.

Rate of Pay

Salary Group 7: $35.68 to $42.80 per hour.

Vacation entitlement is three (3) weeks and you will also accrue approximately 17 paid ATO (Accumulated Time Off) days each year.

Conditions of Employment
