The role:
The Director, Strategic Initiatives (Technology Operations) plays a pivotal role in leading enterprise-wide strategic initiatives focused on technology operations and transformation. This position supports defining and executing high-priority strategic projects, designing and implementing operating models, and partnering with senior executives to align on key strategic priorities and initiatives. The Director manages cross-functional teams to execute large-scale projects, ensuring alignment with objectives, and develops strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
What will you do?
- Lead enterprise-wide strategic initiatives focused on technology operations and transformation.
- Support the VP, COO in defining and executing high-priority strategic projects.
- Design and implement operating models for spend management control and governance.
- Partner with senior executives to align on key strategic priorities and initiatives.
- Manage cross-functional teams to execute large-scale projects, ensuring alignment with objectives.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Represent technology operations in executive meetings and influence decision-making.
- Establish and oversee stakeholder engagement and communication plans.
- Define and track KPIs to measure the success and impact of strategic initiatives.
- Lead team members, driving a culture of accountability, innovation, and execution.
What do you need to succeed?
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in the disciplines of Business Management and Communications.
- Strategic, functional, and operational planning skills.
- Demonstrated experience with large scale initiatives.
- Effective communication skills.
- Highly curious and strong problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in leading change through others to achieve operational excellence.
- Solid experience and proven record in working closely with senior management across centres of excellence, along with conceptual and critical thinking.
- Excellent written and verbal skills - able to convey messages that can be understood across all levels of the organization from the ground level through the executive and board level.
- Works very well in cross-functional teams and is a champion of collaboration and change.
- Can seamlessly engage colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders, and employees to define a shared/common goal.
- Ability to manage significant ambiguity and constantly changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including superior listening and probing skills, and the ability to build rapport across the company while quickly and confidently gaining respect of others.
- Strong coaching and feedback skills that promote leadership and enhance team performance.
- Proven ability to exercise good judgment, initiative, and maintain confidentiality.
