About the workplace

As Director, Corporate Procurement, you will oversee the procurement function and will be accountable for managing programs, operations, strategies, and teams that support Source to Contract (S2C) and Procure to Pay (P2P). You’ll have a key responsibility to ensure Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) governance at Vancity.

You will be responsible for building, developing, and coaching a strong, diverse, and high-performing team of sourcing and procurement professionals to deliver a seamless and efficient purchasing experience for all Vancity departments.

This is a permanent, full-time role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. This role may require you to work on-site at least once a week.

A typical day would involve:

  • Lead and collaborate in setting overall corporate procurement strategies and operations aligned with organizational goals.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing customer focused team, fostering a culture that reflects Vancity’s values.
  • Direct the organization’s procurement function to minimize total costs of ownership (TCO) without compromising quality or supply reliability.
  • Evaluate and negotiate complex supplier and vendor relationships to secure favorable terms and lowest TCO.
  • Implement leading Source-to-Pay strategies and processes and drives the systemization of corporate sourcing and procurement processes.
  • Implement quick-service sourcing guidelines, tools and standards and removes obstacles to enable agile methodologies in procurement.
  • Develop, owns and lead the corporate purchase card program along with other effective corporate procurement tools.
  • Builds and maintains strong interdepartmental relationships to align procurement strategies with policies and organizational goals, ensuring effective communication and cross-functional efficiency.
  • Develop and deliver short-term and long-term procurement programs that enhance stakeholder value through cost savings, cost avoidance, operational effectiveness and third-party risk management.
  • Lead the management of Vancity’s third party contracts portfolio, collaborating with internal departments to ensure compliance and effective supplier management.
  • Ensure vendor management capabilities and contracts meet evolving regulatory standards while balancing internal stakeholder requirements.
  • Support corporate directives for Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) and adherence to all relevant regulatory standards, including OSFI B10 Guidelines.
  • Ensure procurement and contract execution workflow follow delegation of authorities policies.

You have:

  • 10+ years of progressively senior experience in procurement, third-party management, supply chain, process management, and procurement technologies.
  • Experience in a leadership role, including managing high-performing teams.
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, supply chain or a related field.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a nice-to-have.
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), Certified Supply Chain Leader (CSCL), or equivalent designations/certifications are an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial industry procurement best practices, including Source-to-Contract, Procure-to-Pay and Third-Party Risk Management.
  • Extensive knowledge of provincial and federal financial industry regulations related to procurement, including OSFI B10 Guidelines.
  • Advanced business case development, budgeting, and cost accounting skills.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian contract law and legislation that governs the purchase and sale of goods and services in Canada.
  • Expertise in drafting business policies and process governance.
  • Strong process design and ERP technology skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Project).
  • Exceptional business acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with active listening capabilities and effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong prioritization skills, results-driven, and hands-on approach.
  • Strong project management capabilities.

The salary range for this role is $121,000 to $201,600 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
