What is the opportunity?
As a Director within the Capital Markets Operational Risk, Controls & Governance (ORC&G) team, the incumbent will be responsible for leading various new initiatives impacting CM, in addition to core Operational Risk activities as required, including Risk Assessments and Governance activities. The incumbent will build senior business and functional relationships, have responsibility for the implementation of Non-Financial Risk change initiatives and facilitate projects impacting ORC&G.
What will you do?
- Primary responsibilities include management of Capital Markets Non-Financial Risk initiatives. Secondary responsibilities include risk assessment and governance related activities, including OREs, RCSA, Risk Register, Internal Controls Management.
- Work with internal and functional stakeholders, inclusive of GRM and Compliance, in the implementation and enhancement of various Non-Financial Risk related initiatives.
- Maintain an inventory of all ORC&G owned policies, procedures and standing orders, ensuring contents remain up-to-date and accurate, and are reviewed and approved as required.
- Management of smaller scale CM driven initiatives, including planning, socialization, implementation and maintenance.
- Maintain close working relationships with senior management, desk heads, business management and functional units.
- Work with ORE, Governance & Reporting and Control Testing leads to ensure free flow of information between all parties.
- Through process enhancement, identify operational risk/control deficiencies and assist in developing solutions.
- Work with other ORC&G pillar leads to ensure all perspectives are accounted for as change initiatives are implemented.
- Provide training, guidance and direction to junior team members and new joiners as required.
- As the senior representative supporting ORC&G Initiatives, liaise with auditors and regulators as required.
- Responsibilities associated with Operational Risk Events, Change Management/Project or other Risk Assessments, and other Governance/Reporting activities as required.
What you need to succeed?
- 10+ years in risk management, with experience in managing teams.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using business analysis and database querying tools.
- Strong presentation, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of operational risk management industry best practices for Capital Markets products.
- Good knowledge of trading, lending and investment banking businesses with particular emphasis on the control environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks/priorities.
- General IT awareness.
- Ability to work independently and without immediate supervision.
- Previous FO, functions and/or Audit or Risk Management experience is an asset.
