Reporting to the Associate Vice-Principal (Development) (AVP (Dev)), the Director, Prospect Development is responsible for overseeing university-wide prospect development which includes both prospect management and prospect research, with the aim of maximizing long-term fundraising support from diverse individual, corporate and foundation donors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Designs, implements, and oversees the liaison model to connect prospect development staff with specific fundraising teams.
• Provides strategic oversight on the fundraising pipeline with regular reviews across the institutional advancement enterprise.
• Leads initiatives to ensure data integrity and provides training for fundraising staff.
• Analyzes data for prospect and donor pools and provides prospect tracking reports.
• Facilitates regular meetings between Prospect Development staff and fundraisers for portfolio reviews.
• Develops, implements, and manages policies on the use of the Prospect Management Framework.
• Conducts campaign feasibility and valuation analysis for Development Leadership.
• Oversees the Prospect Research and Prospect Management functions for Advancement.
• Develops clear and measurable key performance indicators (KPIs) for Prospect Development strategies.
• Plans, prioritizes, and manages the work of employees, providing strategic guidance and coaching.
REQUIRED BACKGROUND:
• University degree.
• Minimum seven years of experience overseeing a prospect management function within a large organization.
• Clear understanding of ethical fundraising standards.
• Expertise in advanced online prospecting databases and analytics tools.
• Proven leadership and relationship building experience.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
• Excellent business insight and influencing skills.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
DECISION-MAKING:
• Determines content of annual and long-term plans based on sound fundraising principles.
• Sets overall strategy for the prospect management data analytics program.
• Makes recommendations to the AVP (DEV) on campaign readiness and data integrity.
