Director, Program Management
407 ETR is seeking a high-energy motivated individual with strong program management and people leadership skills. This individual will manage programs that support the delivery of digitally enabled solutions and drive operational efficiencies in our organization. These programs may require collaboration with a variety of business and technology areas and involve multiple businesses and project teams.
We’re currently searching for an experienced, proactive, and collaborative program leader to join our ranks to drive identified high priority projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to lead programs that drive results, while also demonstrating strong people leadership skills. We are looking for someone who is motivated by the desire to improve our customers’ experiences, optimize productivity, and nurture program success from inception to completion.
About the Role:
As a Director, Program Management your responsibilities are to:
- Lead multiple, large technology and business-related projects that involve driving key initiatives to deliver digitally enabled solutions that improve our customers' experience, simplify business operations and promote a digital-first business model.
- Proactively identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues to the success of the program. Develop contingency plans to mitigate or avoid the risk. Ensure there is appropriate visibility of risks and issues to all levels of management, up to and including executive management.
- Maintain effective control, leadership, and responsibility for the delivery of the program - including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and business value. Plan, execute and monitor project plans to meet business needs and make decisions to carry out the plan; Ensure delivery milestones and timelines are clearly articulated.
- Proactively manage project scope and recommend solutions to any issues that change the scope of the project or negatively impact its delivery or cost.
- Build key relationships and interfaces with all areas of the business to ensure the success of the program.
- Work closely with functional resource managers to ensure adequate allocation of resources to projects and programs being managed. Report any concerns regarding team effectiveness and cultural environment to IT Leadership.
- Define, communicate, and champion an agility mindset to deliver the organization’s objectives.
- Ensure the communication channels and processes are in place to notify key stakeholders about status, changes, and issues/risks.
- Develop and track to detailed project plans, including schedules, cost estimates, resource plans, communication plans, risk mitigation plans and issue resolution plans.
- Make project recommendations to management about schedules, prioritization, and resource allocation with input from others as needed. Modify project plan as necessary in response to unforeseen or unexpected development and inform management; Coordinate changes with team members and stakeholders.
- Proactively identify and recommend program improvements with direct & partnering teams.
- Produce project documentation - detailed project plans, work plans, schedules, project estimates, conversion schedules, resource plans and status reports. Deliver project report outs to an executive level audience as necessary.
- Facilitate and manage the integration and coordination of systems, processes, staff, and resources.
- Lead ‘Lessons Learned’ activities to ensure continuous learning and improvement is applied to the Project or ORD PMO Service Delivery.
- Provide management and leadership for project management contractors and/or additional project management staff, as applicable.
- Guide and mentor team members to drive their professional growth and contribute to the team’s overall success, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable professional standards and 407 ETR policies.
About You:
You are a fit for the Director, Program Management role if your background includes:
- Minimum 10 years of progressive program/project management experience, including implementation programs of cross-functional projects.
- Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Computer Science or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience delivering and managing integrated, related projects with cross-functional requirements and dependencies into a cohesive program through the entire lifecycle.
- Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementations or leading significant projects (SAP, SalesForce).
- Ability to develop and implement program strategies that drive business outcomes.
- Proven project management skills including a fully competent knowledge of project management methodologies and how to execute.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop a team of project managers. Experienced in motivating team members to perform at their best and holding them accountable for their results. Skilled in setting clear expectations and providing targeted coaching.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and conform to shifting priorities and proactively drive changes in project scope, timelines, and requirements.
- Able to lead all phases of the projects and program. Identifies, assesses, and manages risks to the success of the program and ensures stakeholders have information to make effective decisions.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Experience leading cross-functional, remote, and virtual project teams in a matrix organization.
- Experience interacting with senior management and business stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in building relationships and eliciting cooperation with all areas of the business to ensure the success of the program.
- Able to effectively communicate complex ideas at multiple organizational levels and can modify personal approach and style to reflect changing circumstances.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey messages to all levels in the organization.
- Demonstrates results oriented focus.
- Strong negotiating, influencing, and conflict resolution skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail combined with the ability to see and communicate the big picture.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
- Professional certifications such as Project Management (PMP) and/or Change Management (PROSCI) certifications is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing teams through significant transformation with ambiguous scope is preferred.
