What is the opportunity?An integral member of Personal Banking & Commercial Banking’s (PB & CB) Compliance’s Leadership team that takes a strategic and risk-based approach in ensuring effective practice management. This role is instrumental in helping to inform, shape and set the future capabilities of the PB & CB Compliance team by delivering improvements to existing practice through integration of control monitoring and data capabilities.
Leads a team of professional senior compliance managers overseeing regulatory compliance advisory for digital and channel distribution (including online and branch network strategy), mandatory reporting to regulator, practice management and continuous monitoring. Primary point of contact for regulatory initiatives impacting cross product working with PB & CB’s Regulatory & Strategic Delivery team and colleagues in Compliance.
What will you do?Consumer Protection & Advisory Support (Distribution Channels)
- Accountable for regulatory compliance support for PB & CB distribution channels (i.e., Private Banking, Regional Banking, Operations and Digital) and Strategy and Sales Practices regulatory risk with Regional Banking partners.
- Owns the relationship with the Regulatory, Strategy and Delivery team works closely with the Regulatory Change Champion on the team to support the implementation activities of new regulations for PB & CB Compliance.
FCAC Mandatory Reporting & Central Oversight
- Ensures that RBC maintains a healthy and constructive relationship with the Consumer Protection Regulator, Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) by ensuring timely and proactive regulatory reporting, co-ordination point for FCAC exams.
- Accountable for coordinating responses to other FCAC requests, including questionnaires, reportable compliance issues and management of the complaint’s submission process to the FCAC.
- Encourages consistent best practice for reportable compliance issues (RCIs), issue management and control assurance across all Lines of Business in PB & CB and distribution channels.
Continuous Monitoring and Data Strategy
- Accountable for effective management of Reportable Complaint process, including trending and analysis quarter over quarter and analytical process to gain additional insights on complaints.
- Accountable for PB & CB Compliance’s Monitoring and Data Analytics strategies and delivery against set KPIs to ensure positive impact and value add and complies with Enterprise standards.
Managerial Excellence
- Provide leadership, coaching, performance management and personal development support to team of individuals responsible for thinking through highly complex business strategies, product/service initiatives and issue remediation to provide businesses and counsel to help achieve business goals and drivers.
What do you need to succeed?Must-have:
- Post Graduate degree, Professional Designation or MBA with 7-10 years of relevant experience.
- Impact, influence maturity and experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders, and demonstrate strong collaboration skills across the organization.
- Strong collaborator with deep organizational awareness who can build credibility quickly and impact and influence partners across the organization (Banking, Compliance and functional partners) and stakeholders and builds critical internal and external relationships across the organization.
- Strong business knowledge and acumen and a good understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management principles and frameworks and experience in interpreting, advising and applying legal, regulatory and/or policy requirements in a banking environment.
- Experience with change management and stakeholder management.
- Ability to draw connections between regulatory requirements and business initiatives, recognizing oncoming impediments and support partners to mitigate risk and clear the path proactively.
- Ability to both grasp big picture and have rigorous attention to detail.
