About the Role:
As Director, Organic Content & SEO, you will lead the strategic direction and execution of our content and SEO initiatives, driving measurable growth in traffic, engagement, and revenue across our portfolio. You will oversee content production, optimization, and performance tracking to build topical and domain authority for high-value Jobs To Be Done (JTBD) and related software solutions. Your leadership will ensure that our editorial and SEO teams execute best-in-class content strategies that dominate search rankings and fuel business success.

You are equally strategic and operational, confidently developing and evolving content strategies while keeping production flowing at an increasing level of quality and performance. You have extensive experience in media monetization, particularly within B2B SaaS advertising and affiliate models.
Your leadership style inspires and rallies teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. With significant experience managing editorial and SEO teams, you bring expertise in content strategy, audience monetization, workflow optimization, and operational execution for digital publications.
You thrive in fast-paced environments and are an expert in data-driven decision-making. You can quickly analyze market dynamics, identify differentiation opportunities, and adapt to evolving industry landscapes. Your ability to interpret and act on analytics ensures continuous growth, and you stay ahead of SEO trends, search algorithms, and emerging content formats.
You have a strong grasp of AI, automation, and content production frameworks, leveraging them to scale output, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance content performance. You know how to align editorial efforts with business goals, ensuring that every piece of content serves a strategic purpose while delivering real value to the audience.
What you'll be doing (responsibilities):
- Optimize & Execute SEO & Organic Growth Strategy
- Develop, execute, and continuously improve a data-driven SEO strategy to increase topical and domain authority
- Oversee content planning, production sequencing, and optimization to maximize search visibility, traffic, and revenue
- Implement and refine SOPs and playbooks to ensure consistent execution across the portfolio
- Drive on-page and off-page SEO strategies, including backlink acquisition, digital PR, and authority exchange initiatives
- Monitor algorithm updates and proactively adapt strategies to maintain and improve rankings
- Enhance SERP feature optimization, ensuring content is structured for featured snippets, rich results, and emerging search trends
- Deliver & Maintain High-Performing Content
- Ensure that content is optimized for organic growth, user engagement, and conversions
- Own the monitoring, tracking, and optimization of all published content, ensuring sustained performance and iterative improvements
- Maintain strict adherence to SEO and content guidelines, ensuring best practices are consistently applied
- Develop frameworks for SME collaboration, integrating expert insights to enhance credibility and authority
- Lead AI and automation adoption to improve content production efficiency and quality
- Lead & Coach a High-Performing Team
- Set ambitious yet achievable goals for traffic growth, engagement, and content quality
- Develop and implement training programs to upskill editorial teams in SEO, content strategy, and monetization best practices
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Provide regular performance insights and feedback, ensuring team members are aligned with company objectives and KPIs
- Drive collaboration across SEO, content, UX, design, and tech teams to enhance the discoverability, presentation, and impact of content

- Team Output Growth - Month-over-month increase in content production across the portfolio
- Organic Traffic Growth - Month-over-month increase in organic sessions per site
- Inventory Performance - Month-over-month increase in #1-3 keyword rankings per site
Your skillset includes:
- SEO Leadership & Strategy: 5+ years leading SEO-driven content strategies with proven organic growth results, including programmatic SEO and bulk content generation
- Content Team Management: Experience managing large editorial and content teams (50+ writers/editors) while maintaining high-quality standards
- SEO & Content Optimization: Deep knowledge of SEO best practices, keyword research, content analysis, and backlink strategies
- Technical SEO & Performance Optimization: Proficiency in site architecture, crawlability, structured data, Core Web Vitals, and SERP feature optimization (e.g., featured snippets, PAA, zero-click searches)
- Analytics & Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong data analysis and forecasting skills, with expertise in SEO tools (Ahrefs, SEMrush, Clearscope) and web analytics (GA4, Search Console)
- Conversion & Revenue Strategy: Experience in CRO, monetization strategies (affiliate, B2B SaaS), and content revenue models
- AI & Automation for Content Operations: Hands-on experience leveraging AI-driven content generation, workflow automation, and quality control tools
- Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong experience working with UX, design, and tech teams to enhance content discoverability and engagement
- Algorithm Adaptation & Recovery: Ability to identify, diagnose, and recover from search algorithm penalties and ranking drops
- Project & Resource Management: Strong budgeting, deadline management, and content production scaling skills
- Communication & Leadership: Excellent leadership and collaboration skills, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
Nice to haves:
- B2B SaaS Content Marketing Experience – Experience developing SEO and content strategies for B2B SaaS brands
- Media, Journalism, or Communications Background – MA/BA or equivalent experience in media, journalism, or content strategy
- Experience with SMEs & Expert Contributors – Skilled in sourcing and integrating subject matter expert insights to enhance content authority
- Global & Multi-Language SEO – Understanding of international SEO, including hreflang implementation, content localization, and global keyword strategies
- Social SEO & Alternative Search Engine Strategies – Familiarity with SEO strategies beyond Google, including YouTube, Reddit, TikTok, and AI-driven search models
- Digital PR & Brand Authority Growth – Expertise in securing high-quality backlinks, digital PR, and influencer partnerships
- Advanced Technical SEO & Web Development – Experience with multisite configurations, site migrations, and technical troubleshooting
- AI-Assisted Content Editing & QA – Ability to refine AI-driven content review processes for scalability and consistency
- Experience with Large-Scale Content Operations – Proven ability to scale content production efficiently while maintaining SEO integrity
This full time position is available as a either a 100% remote or hybrid position if you're able /would like to commute into our Vancouver office. The role offers an annual salary in the range of $150,000 to $200,000 CAD. The range is a guide for the expected skills, knowledge and experience for new hires based in Canada only. Seniority level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. This means ranges will vary for candidates based outside of Canada and/or at different seniority levels. In addition to annual salary, full time employees are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
