Director of Student Recruitment --Vancouver

Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Enrollment Management, the Director of Student Recruitment will lead the university’s efforts to attract, engage, and enroll prospective international and domestic students by developing and implementing a comprehensive recruitment strategy. This individual will oversee recruitment staff, manage outreach initiatives, and build partnerships with schools, community organizations, industry partners, and overseas agents to meet enrollment goals. The Director will use data-driven strategies to analyze trends, enhance engagement, and optimize recruitment efforts.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES :

  1. Strategic Planning and Program Development
    1. Develops and implements a strategic international and domestic student recruitment plan that aligns with University enrollment goals, ensuring a diverse and high-caliber student body.
    2. Determines country-by-country recruitment plans in coordination with recruitment staff designed to reach enrollment goals in particular countries and regions.
    3. Analyzes market trends and identifies new recruitment opportunities in key international regions and for the domestic market.
    4. Collaborates with Marketing Department to create culturally relevant and compelling recruitment materials and campaigns.
    5. Prepares, manages, and allocates the recruitment budget effectively to maximize impact and meet enrollment objectives.
    6. Evaluates the effectiveness of recruitment programs and initiatives, recommending changes or improvements based on data and industry best practices.
    7. Provides budgets for all activities on a timely basis and adheres to an overall annual budget.
    8. Maintains the master calendar of recruitment activities.
  2. International Partnerships and Relationship Management
    1. Establishes and maintains relationships with international high schools, government agencies, educational consultants, and other key partners.
    2. Represents the University at international fairs, conferences, and recruitment events to promote programs and build networks.
  3. Domestic Partnerships and Relationship Management
    1. Establishes and maintains relationships with domestic high schools, government agencies, educational consultants, and other key partners.
    2. Represents the University at domestic student fairs, conferences, and recruitment events to promote programs and build networks.
  4. Team Leadership and Staff Development
    1. Leads, mentors, and supports the student recruitment team.
    2. Provides training, sets performance goals, and conducts regular performance evaluations for the recruitment team.
    3. Maintains reports on recruitment activities along with recommendations for future actions.
    4. Directs the efforts of the recruitment staff and coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the University.
  5. Enrollment and Data Analysis
    1. Monitors, analyzes, and reports on recruitment and enrollment metrics to assess the effectiveness of recruitment strategies.
    2. Uses data-driven insights to adjust recruitment tactics and optimize resources to meet enrollment goals.
  6. Compliance and Process Improvement
    1. Ensures recruitment processes adhere to institutional policies and immigration regulations.
    2. Collaborates with the Admissions Department to implement streamlined application and enrollment processes tailored to students.
  7. Campus and Community Engagement
    1. Works closely with academic departments, admissions, and student services to support students’ transition and integration into the campus community.
    2. Develops programs to enhance the student experience from recruitment through graduation.
    3. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  2. Proven experience in senior marketing or communications role, preferably with the higher education sector.
  3. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  4. Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative marketing and communication initiatives.
  5. Success in delivering comprehensive communication and marketing plans that inspire, engage, and build awareness with target audiences.
  6. Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and content management systems.
  7. Demonstrated ability to assess success of marketing campaigns and initiatives.
  8. Familiarity with higher education trends and issues.
  9. Canadian Residency or work permit required.
  10. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in International Education, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 5–7 years in higher education, student recruitment, or admissions, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of global education trends and cultural nuances in international recruitment.
  4. Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience representing an institution abroad.
  5. Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
  6. Data analysis skills with experience using CRM systems and enrollment management software.
  7. Exceptional leadership, communication, management and organizational skills, and the ability to work with diverse groups.
  8. Familiarity with immigration regulations and compliance standards for student visas.
  9. Established network within the Canadian higher education sector.
  10. This role requires significant international travel and some weekend or evening work to accommodate time zone differences and recruitment events.
  11. Canadian Residency or work permit required.
  12. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Insurance Number.
