Job description

Our client is searching for a Director of Sales to join their team. This role will be responsible for creating and executing a disciplined and formalized sales strategy for both print, new and existing digital resources to support and exceed annual sales targets. A successful candidate will manage a sales team of Account Executives and work collaboratively with the VP of Sales.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  1. Create and articulate a clear and detailed sales strategy with tactics directed at new Canadian and international markets, including tutoring organizations, translation opportunities in Indigenous communities, the Atlantic Canadian provinces, English speaking school boards in Quebec, and online remote learning communities.
  2. Cultivate relationships with key decision makers and those that can influence decision making to purchase print and digital resources.
  3. Develop a deep understanding of Canadian and global markets and their unique qualities as well as strategies and tactics to help the company grow.
  4. Manage a sales team.
  5. Create and implement business development strategies, sales plans, and procedures to increase sales.
  6. Monitor and direct value-added sales activity as part of the overall sales strategy.
  7. Introduce a competitive analysis for ‘key players’ in Canadian and relevant international markets.
  8. Adopt and apply a consultative sales culture across the Sales department that is 100% customer-focused to drive success.
  9. Learn about current technology and infrastructure in blended learning environments to better inform sales strategies.
  10. Participate and learn about partnerships that will support digitization visual and strategy.
  11. Work together and across all departments within the company including Sales and Professional Learning, Publications, Marketing & Communications, and Strategic Partnerships and Development.
  12. Prepare monthly written reports to share with the Board of Directors.

Your strengths include:

  1. Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma, preferably in Sales, Business Administration or a relevant field, or equivalent work experience in the private or public sectors.
  2. 7+ years of experience as a Sales Manager, Territory Manager or similar types of sales roles.
  3. Demonstrable experience managing a sales team with the ability to coach, motivate, and supervise others.
  4. Familiarity with CRM software; Salesforce is an asset.
  5. Previous experience as a teacher or certification in teaching is highly desirable, but not required.
  6. Able to work remotely with video, teleconferencing, phone, etc., and the ability to mentor and collaborate.
