POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Administrator and functioning as a member of the Pioneer Ridge Management Team, is responsible for planning, organizing, leading, staffing and controlling the nursing services within the Division.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates fully with senior administration in developing and implementing the Homes’ strategic plan and setting long term goals.
- Responsible for developing, interpreting and implementing a comprehensive strategic plan for the Nursing Section consistent with Corporate and Divisional direction.
- Responsible for the development, administration and evaluation of policies, standards and procedures for the Nursing Section within the Division in keeping with mandated requirements under relevant legislation.
- Develops and administers the annual operating and capital budget for the Nursing Section.
- In co-operation with other Directors of Nursing, both within the Division and the community at large, researches current scientific literature and legislation to establish standards for the delivery of nursing care and service consistent with changing community needs.
- Supports and promotes nursing professional development and continuing education and co-ordinates the nursing performance management program including recruiting, orientation, evaluation, discipline and discharge of nursing staff.
- Develops and directs effective multidisciplinary programs for infection control and health records, and provides co-ordination and support for medical and pharmacy services programs.
- Prepares reports and recommendations for the Administrator based on analyses of information and data pertaining to building operations.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- Nursing diploma with a current unrestricted certificate of competence (registration in good standing) from the College of Nurses of Ontario and five years’ relevant experience in organizational management in a long-term care environment; or
- Nursing degree with a certificate of competence from the Ontario College of Nurses and three years’ relevant experience.
Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to effectively direct and motivate personnel;
- Computer experience is necessary;
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
- Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer
- Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies
- May be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
- Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment
- Prior to commencing employment, must undergo a successful Offence & Professional Misconduct Declaration Process
- Must successfully complete all mandatory training as required by the Corporation on an annual basis
