Office of Military & Veteran Services

The Office of Military and Veterans Services (OMVS) provides the internal and external support and resources necessary that contribute to the personal, academic and professional success of our military-affiliated students and their families.
The Director of the OMVS is responsible for the LI and BK Campuses. The Director ensures the streamlining and efficiency of administrative processes, maintains and develops support services, resources and programs, and develops and implements the recruitment strategies and outreach efforts of the office.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the VA and DoD education benefit administration process and be an expert on VA and DoD education benefits.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for veteran/military student recruitment and retention.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with campus departments, community organizations, and VA offices.
  • Plan and execute on-campus and off-campus recruiting events and support institution-wide recruiting events such as open houses, club fairs, and new student admitted days.
  • Help support the Student Veterans Association.
  • Maintain department website, portal page, newsletter, and social media outreach efforts.
  • Implement creative programming opportunities for veterans/service members that deepen their connection to the university and support student success.
  • Serve on University committees and collaborate as needed.
  • Provide individual guidance to veteran/military students on their educational and career goals.
  • The primary location will be the Long Island campus but some presence on the Brooklyn campus will be required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
A master’s degree is preferred.
Experience working with Veterans/Service members.
Knowledge and experience working with Veterans Affairs.
Experience working in higher education.

Salary Range: $65,000-$70,000
