Reporting To: Senior Director, CBC News Operations
As the Director of Local Operations, you will support and oversee local leaders managing day-to-day operations across the organization and drive our ongoing digital transformation as part of the CBC News Operations senior leadership team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support local operations managers in managing day-to-day operations across local production centres.
- Ensure consistency and cohesiveness in operational standards and practices across CBC News.
- Maintain alignment with Senior Managing Directors and provide timely updates on operational matters.
- Collaborate to define strategic priorities for CBC News Operations.
- Represent local production centres within the CBC News Operations Senior Leadership team.
- Advocate for CBC News in enterprise-wide strategic planning related to technology and workflow.
- Interact with peers and senior management to achieve results.
- Serve as a key point of contact to escalate issues to senior management.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in media production, journalism or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of media production tools and technology.
- Understanding of audience consumption behaviour and News Strategy.
- Reliable, collaborative, and highly organized manager.
- Long-term planning skills.
- Negotiation skills - a strong asset.
- Functional bilingualism (English/French) - a strong asset.
- 5 years experience as a manager in media production.
