As a world leader in the design and manufacturing industry, Active Dynamics is seeking an eager, enthusiastic, and experienced Director of Human Resources to join our successful Toronto team immediately. We are looking for a talent with solid professional skills.

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading and managing all HR functions across the Toronto corporate office, manufacturing facility, and the US facility. Reporting directly to the Chief Administration Officer (CAO), this role serves as a strategic partner to the leadership team while providing operational support to ensure the effective execution of HR initiatives that drive organizational success.

What you will be doing:

  1. Strategic HR Leadership: Provide expert guidance and coaching to department managers and leadership on all HR-related matters, including employee relations, talent management, performance management, and organizational development.
  2. Employee Relations: Advise the leadership team on complex employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, attendance management, and the progressive discipline process, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable labour laws.
  3. Business Partnership: Develop strong relationships with operational departments to understand their business goals and proactively implement HR solutions that align with organizational strategies.
  4. Talent Acquisition: Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle, managing multiple requisitions simultaneously and ensuring recruitment targets are met. Drive the development and execution of talent acquisition strategies to attract top talent.
  5. Talent Management: Lead talent management programs, including performance reviews, individual development plans, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  6. Onboarding & Integration: Coordinate and facilitate comprehensive onboarding programs. Oversee new hire integration and monitor employee progress throughout the probationary period to ensure a smooth transition into the organization.
  7. Compensation & Benefits: Maintain and analyze compensation data, preparing detailed reports for the corporate compensation team. Manage the administration of compensation review processes, ensuring competitive and equitable compensation practices.
  8. Process Optimization: Continuously identify and implement opportunities to streamline HR processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall effectiveness of the HR team.
  9. HR Metrics & Reporting: Regularly track, analyze, and report on key HR metrics, providing insights and recommendations to the leadership team to support data-driven decision-making.
  10. Project Management: Lead various HR projects as required, from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timely delivery.
  11. Time & Attendance Management: Oversee time and attendance systems, ensuring accurate tracking and compliance with company policies and labor regulations.
  12. Legal Compliance: Manage any employment-related legal issues, escalating internally should the need arise, to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  13. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support the HR function and organizational objectives.

What you bring along:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field coupled with a CHRL designation in good standing with the HRPA is required.
  2. Master’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Leadership, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  3. Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles.
  4. Proven experience in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  5. Experience in leading corporate culture change.
  6. Solid to advanced level computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office.
  7. Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  8. Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
  9. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  10. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  11. Proficiency in HRIS systems and data analytics.
