Director of Finance

Our client is a finance management firm. They are looking for a Director of Finance who will be responsible for overseeing the financial reporting for the family’s assets, investments, and activities. About the Opportunity

1. Lead the financial reporting function for the family office:
2. Oversee the day-to-day financial transactions, reporting, analysis and planning.
3. Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and tax laws.
4. Analyze complex financial transactions and structuring to ensure proper recording for financial reporting purposes.
5. Work with the CFO and team to streamline the period-end close cycle and standardize/automate processes.
6. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including cash and intercompany reconciliations.
7. Develop and implement internal controls to ensure financial integrity and prevent fraud.
8. Lead financial information requirements for tax planning and compliance:
9. Work closely with Tax Director and external advisors to facilitate tax planning.
10. Provide legal entity financial statements and other financial information required for tax return compliance in multi-jurisdictions.
11. Provide financial analysis and reporting for family holdings, including real estate and other assets.

Support finance operations and transaction support:

1. Provide financial information to meet bank financing requirements, insurance policies, and other regulatory reporting.
2. Provide accurate financial data and analysis to assist in investment and business decisions.
3. Coordinate with external legal counsel to track and report on investments, transactions, and structure.

About You

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA designation preferred).

Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on family offices, private equity, or wealth management.

In-depth knowledge of Canadian accounting principles, tax laws, and financial reporting standards.

Strong understanding of investments, asset management, and financial markets.

Exceptional financial modelling, analysis, and reporting skills.

Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Sage, QuickBooks, or similar systems preferred.

Salary Range

140,000 - $150,000 / year
