Aplin has partnered with our Ontario-based client to recruit a Vice President, Finance to join our client’s team. The role will oversee all financial operations while providing strategic leadership and ensuring the financial health and growth of the organization. Reporting to the President, this role involves overseeing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the President and Board of Directors on financial performance.
  • Evaluate current financial reporting; make continuous improvements to support corporate and internal management needs.
  • Participate in strategic planning activities and lead annual business planning process.
  • Ensure compliance of all accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Maintain strong focus on forward cash flow planning.
  • Work closely with leadership team providing timely information and guidance to manage the business.
  • Timely financial reporting, financial cost analysis, and interpreting financial information for senior management and corporate.
  • Work closely with company external auditors as it relates to year-end review and special projects.
  • Maintain capital expenditure approval and appropriate level of capital investment according to approved budgets.
  • Identify and manage risk.
  • Lead the preparation of financial statements, annual reports, and other financial documents.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor market trends and economic conditions to inform financial planning and risk management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting.
  • Professional Accounting designation – CPA.
  • 10 years related experience in a small to medium sized business in a project-based accounting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Proven track record of strategic financial planning and analysis.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; strong ability to convey complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of integrity and ethical standard.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Sound judgment/innovation.
