As the Director of Economic Development, you will lead efforts to drive diversified economic growth and innovation for the City of Peterborough, contributing to a vibrant, sustainable, and resilient local economy. A visionary and strategic leader, you will spearhead the establishment of the City’s newly created Economic Development Services Division. This division will serve as an in-house center of excellence, offering first-class programs and services aimed at attracting new businesses and investments, supporting startups and innovation, retaining and expanding local businesses, and strengthening local employment through strategic talent attraction initiatives.

Reporting to the Manager, Economic Development, this position plays a lead role in developing and managing Peterborough’s Economic Development Strategy and the Action Plan that outlines the activities and initiatives that support investment attraction, retention, and expansion.

You will be accountable for implementing the Greater Downtown Plan through managing teams that focus on administering real estate incentive programs, analyzing investment options, conducting research, and engaging in strategic planning.
