Our client is a female-led Indigenous business at the forefront of the modular construction industry. They are forging paths in co-creating innovative, resilient housing and childcare solutions with Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.

We are in search of a Director of Construction to lead our client’s construction department with vigor and vision. This role is at the heart of the operation, requiring a strategic thinker who can manage complex projects from inception to completion. You will work in an environment that values creativity, forward-thinking, and collaborative problem-solving, ensuring the success of construction projects across the nation.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership and Execution: Direct all phases of construction projects, from planning and design to execution and completion, ensuring projects meet quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Strategic Direction and Innovation: Work closely with the leadership team to define and implement innovative construction strategies that enhance efficiency, sustainability, and project outcomes.
  • Team Development: Cultivate a high-performing construction team through mentorship, training, and leadership, fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, suppliers, and regulatory agencies, ensuring seamless collaboration and project success.
  • Quality Control and Safety: Implement and oversee comprehensive quality control and safety programs, adhering to all regulatory standards and best practices to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage project finances, including budgeting, cost estimation, and financial reporting, to ensure fiscal responsibility and project profitability.
  • Operational Excellence: Continuously evaluate and improve construction processes and techniques to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance project delivery.
  • Market Expansion: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, expanding the market presence and contributing to the company’s growth and success.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, complemented by extensive experience in the construction industry.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in construction management, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in modular construction.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing large-scale construction projects, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Deep understanding of construction laws, regulations, and building codes, with an emphasis on sustainable and innovative construction practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of motivating and leading a diverse team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on strategic planning and operational efficiency.
  • Commitment to promoting safety, quality, and environmental responsibility in all construction activities.
  • Experience in working with Indigenous communities and valuing Indigenous cultures and traditions is highly regarded.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
