AltaGas - Director, Marketing Finance
Get ready to make a significant impact! As the Director of Marketing Finance, you’ll be pivotal in steering our financial operations to success. You’ll collaborate with the Controller, Midstream, to oversee financial reporting, accounting, and budgeting. This dynamic position involves working closely with diverse teams across finance, commercial, operations, and risk management, ensuring our financial reporting is accurate, complete, and compliant with all regulatory standards. You Will:
- Oversee full cycle accounting for marketing businesses (oil, ngl and gas), including the effective and efficient execution of SOX controls.
- Supervise, coach, and mentor finance managers and other staff.
- Review transactions in complex or emerging business areas for treatment under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the execution of daily cash calls.
- Monitor and reconcile accounts, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain process documentation and desk manuals for all key accounting processes in the marketing accounting functions.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations.
- Ensure monthly deliverables to Corporate and Midstream FP&A groups are timely and accurate, including variance analysis, volumetric data, and other periodic reporting.
- Oversee the preparation of audit schedules and support the annual audit process.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including commercial, operations, and risk.
- Review and understand new transactions, liaising with commercial functions to provide valuable finance input.
- Review and understand periodic risk reporting liaising with the risk function to provide insights on positions and processes.
You Have:
- 10+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and communicate results effectively.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Ability to make complex decisions.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and have strategic agility.
- Strong experience in delegating and performance management.
- Effective in evaluating and deploying people accurately.
- Focus on action and outcomes.
- Demonstrate personal flexibility, personal learning, and self-development.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Master's degree preferred.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
