About the Position:

Reporting to the Sr. Director, HR Strategy, Leadership, Learning & Inclusion, the Director, Learning & Development leads the design, implementation, and management of learning and development initiatives to improve employee productivity, organizational effectiveness, and career growth. This includes overseeing the Learning Management System (LMS) and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Learning strategy and program development:
  • Design and execute a comprehensive learning strategy aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and develop learning programs to support career growth and compliance.
  • Design training materials using a variety of media platforms.
  • Evaluate training outcomes and continuously improve programs based on data and feedback.
  • Workday Learning management system (LMS) implementation and oversight:
    • Lead the implementation and management of workday learning or other LMS platforms.
    • Ensure seamless integration with business systems and deliver user training and support.
    • Monitor LMS performance and optimize for user engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Evaluation and reporting:
    • Establish and track metrics to measure the effectiveness of learning initiatives, LMS adoption, and overall training impact.
    • Regularly report progress, challenges, and successes to senior leadership, using data to inform decision-making and demonstrate value.
    • Conduct follow-up studies of completed training programs to evaluate outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stakeholder collaboration and communication:
    • Partner with senior leaders and department heads to align learning initiatives with organizational goals.
    • Develop communication tools (e.g., newsletters, intranet updates) to promote training programs.
    • Responsible for identifying, recruiting, mentoring, developing, and retaining a team to support the learning needs across the organization.
    • Leads, directs, and coaches the team in the performance of their respective roles.

    Education and Experience Qualifications:

    1. Education and Certification:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
    • Master’s degree is an asset.
    • Recommended certifications could include: Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) or Certified Training Practitioner (CTP), Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL), Project Management Certification, LMS-specific certifications.
  • Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience in learning management roles.
    • Previous successful implementation of an LMS or credible evidence of the ability to achieve this will be essential (Workday preferred).
    • Significant experience building and managing strategic partnerships and alliances in a complex environment.
    • Demonstrated successful experience with governance development and management, resource development, and leading and developing leaders and staff.
    • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
    • Proficiency with multimedia training platforms and methods.
    • Ability to evaluate training needs and design effective solutions.

    Compensation:

    The target hiring range for this position is $90,674 (min.) to $113,343 (mid). Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
