The Role:

Reporting to the Vice President, Investment Strategy and Private Wealth, the successful applicant will drive our thought leadership efforts with regards to portfolio construction and investment strategy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Primary idea generator of topical investment themes or trends that Mackenzie should own in the marketplace through white-papers and/or regular market commentary.
  • Author ‘deep dive’ white papers for internal and external use that focus on foundational approaches to portfolio management.
  • Develop and launch periodic thought leadership publications for use in the client domain that provide updates on financial markets and investment management topics.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in product, marketing, and investments in the curation and communication of compelling stories.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing a topic and authoring a compelling story for publication under tight deadlines.
  • Collaborate with wholesalers in understanding the needs of advisors with respect to investment thought leadership.
  • Partner effectively with functional partners including marketing and compliance in the creation and dissemination of investment thought leadership.
  • Ability to create PowerPoint presentations with clear messaging, supported by sound analysis.
  • Articulate in communicating with all levels of management.
  • Ability to write and present concisely and persuasively.

Additional skills and qualifications:

  • A university degree in a business or finance-related discipline.
  • Combination of CFA, CAIA, or MBA a plus.
  • 5+ years relevant experience in the investment industry.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience as a sell-side or buy-side research associate or equivalent.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to share compelling stories.
