The Opportunity

Keyano College is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of International Education & Student Life to lead the development and implementation of strategies supporting international education, global citizenship, and a vibrant student life experience. Reporting to the Vice-President of Academics, this role is crucial to enhancing student recruitment, retention, and support, fostering a global perspective across campus, and contributing to the future growth of Keyano College by overseeing various departments that enrich the student’s experience.

Note: this is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB.

Duties & Responsibilities

Relationships & Culture

  • Implement international enrollment management strategies to enhance student diversity, retention, and global representation.
  • Oversee the development and execution of the domestic recruitment strategy.
  • Develop and execute strategic partnerships and plans in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including Marketing Department, the Office of the Registrar, community organizations, and federal bodies like Global Affairs Canada.
  • Provide direction on student life cycle events, such as orientations, cultural events, and informational sessions.
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity and global awareness among students, faculty, and staff.
  • Provide oversight towards the College’s indigenous student support processes.

Innovation & Management

  • Ensure sustainable, equitable initiatives that align with the college’s goals for international education and support intercultural inclusivity training.

Strategic Outbound & Inbound Planning

  • Travel as needed to represent the college and gather insights for developing the international office.
  • Ensure the college has policies and procedures that support diversity, equality, and inclusion for international students.
  • Lead various projects, delegating as necessary, and participate in committees and meetings.
  • Organize and host events to support international students and campus-wide global engagement.

Financial & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee the international budget, ensuring transparency and alignment with revenue goals.
  • Make strategic financial decisions and manage contracts to achieve institutional priorities.
  • Implement, manage, and assess grant-funded initiatives and proposals for International Education and Global Citizenship.
  • Track and analyze emerging trends, using data insights to drive program improvements and measure success.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree (or equivalent) in management, post-secondary administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in International Education & Student Life at a senior management level.
  • Proven experience in creating a positive student experience, with expertise in areas like student accommodation, international education, and wellness initiatives.
  • Experience working with historically excluded populations and developing equitable and inclusive programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in team management, strategic planning, and financial oversight.

  • This position qualifies for additional payment of the Northern Living Allowance of $1,040.00 per month (This allowance is reviewed annually and is subject to budget approval).
