Permanent Full Time

We are looking for an experienced Director, Internal Audit.

Reporting to the Assistant-Vice-President, the Director, Internal Audit will partner with senior business leaders in the Canadian organization to provide them with independent insights and assurance over their highest risks.

The Director will lead a team of Internal Audit Professionals and People Leaders to deliver a portfolio of audits. The Director will need to be a forward-thinking and dynamic leader who can lead a team in evolving its service delivery model and developing the requisite capabilities to provide insights and independent assurance to the business.

Effective stakeholder management, including demonstrated ability to:

  • Identify key stakeholders and promote timely and transparent communication
  • Model effective verbal and written communication capabilities to influence and adapt to stakeholders’ varying styles
  • Lead the problem solving and decision-making process, ensuring that all stakeholder’s requirements are addressed

Effective engagement delivery practices, including demonstrated ability to:

  • Drive delivery of engagements in the portfolio with competing priorities on time including a) review of plans and outcomes, b) evaluation of the design adequacy and operating effectiveness of governance, risk management and controls and c) facilitation of root cause analysis and craft pragmatic recommendations
  • Apply deep knowledge and experience with internal audit methodology, and drive adherence to guidance to ensure quality
  • Act as an independent strategic advisor to the business as part of project oversight activities to assist in mitigating risk and providing independent insight to stakeholders
  • Partner with first and second lines of defense as appropriate

Relevant business and industry knowledge, including demonstrated ability to:

  • Leverage expertise in insurance and wealth to provide insights to the business
  • Apply understanding of the company’s markets, competitors, and customers to highlight key risks during audits, and ensure those risks are appropriately addressed

Practical data analytics and visualization experience, including demonstrated ability to:

  • Embed the application of data analytics in our way of working
  • Leverage data and visualizations to report on results and craft compelling messages

What you will bring

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or another related field
  • 10+ years progressive relevant experience
  • A recognized accounting or audit designation (e.g., CPA, CIA)
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) are considered assets

The base salary for this position is between $89,800 - $166,300 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation (i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
