In April 2024, the Boards of St. Mary’s General and Grand River Hospitals both independently voted in favour of a voluntary merger of the Hospitals to form a new hospital organization. This evolution of our partnership will occur alongside our joint redevelopment work, as we strive to build a new acute care campus in the community. We welcome talent to both St. Mary’s General Hospital and Grand River Hospital that are ready to be part of an exciting, generational change for hospital care in Waterloo Region.

As Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital build the “Future of Care” together and a unified new hospital starting in April 2025, they are looking to recruit the digital leadership that will enable the success of a new hospital that delivers innovative care to Ontario’s fastest growing region. More specifically, the hospitals are seeking to recruit 3 digital services leaders to make the vision of high quality innovative a reality.

We currently have an opportunity for Director, Integrated Technology & Cybersecurity within Digital Services – Grand River & St. Mary’s General Hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning:
    • Design the Structure that will support the Technology and Cybersecurity functions within the newly merged hospital.
    • Develop and implement technology and cybersecurity strategies aligned with the hospital's goals.
    • Lead the technology team in planning and executing projects to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
  2. Cybersecurity Management:
    • Oversee the implementation of cybersecurity protocols and strategy to protect patient data and hospital systems.
    • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  3. Infrastructure Oversight:
    • Manage the development and maintenance of IT infrastructure, ensuring reliable and efficient operation.
    • Oversee network security, data storage, and system performance.
  4. Application Management:
    • Supervise the development, deployment, and maintenance of clinical and administrative applications.
    • Ensure applications meet the needs of healthcare providers and administrative staff.
  5. Support Services:
    • Lead the helpdesk and desktop support teams to provide timely technical assistance.
    • Ensure high levels of customer service and satisfaction.

The Director, Integrated Technology & Cybersecurity has:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (OR EQUIVALENT combination of education and experience).
  • ITI, CISSP, CISM, PMP, Change Management, Cloud certifications, AI qualifications all considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in healthcare applications, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience with clinical and corporate applications in a hospital setting.
  • Extensive experience in IT management and cybersecurity, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Proven leadership experience managing diverse technology teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity threats and mitigation strategies.
  • Proficiency in IT infrastructure management.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution, service, and contract management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation.
