BC Place is hiring a Director, Facility Operations. Reporting to the General Manager, the Director, Facilities Operations is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the stadium, ensuring best-in-class performance for a variety of events, including sports, concerts, conventions, and other public events. The Director of Facility Operations will be responsible for maintenance, event building set, roof operations and converting the stadium. This role requires a strategic thinker with a mechanical aptitude and strong leadership skills to drive efficiency, improve operational processes, and enhance the overall facility experience.

What you will do:

  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities strategy aligned with organizational goals, focusing on sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and operational excellence.
  2. Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day facility operations, ensuring all mechanical systems are maintained to high standards and meet safety and regulatory requirements. Planning and execution of event building set, conversions, main and secondary roof deployment and field/floor configuration.
  3. Team Management: Lead and mentor a diverse team of facility managers, professional trades, conversion specialists, and technicians fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. Promote a positive and inclusive team culture that values diverse perspectives and collaboration.
  4. Team and Partner Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal team members and external partners/stakeholders. Establish channels for ongoing feedback between team members and with partners/stakeholders.
  5. Project Management: Oversee and or collaborate with our Capital Projects Team on facility-related projects, including renovations, construction and installations ensuring coordination, timely completion and adherence to plan.
  6. Vendor Relations: Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure high-quality service delivery and contract compliance.
  7. Data Analysis: Utilize data and performance metrics to drive decision-making and improve facility operations, implementing best practices and innovative solutions.
  8. Sustainability: Lead and support initiatives to improving sustainability practices within the stadium, including energy and resources efficiency.
  9. Accessibility: Work and collaborate with partners to identify, remove, and prevent barriers to stadium accessibility.
  10. Budget Management: Develop and manage the stadium facilities budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and effective cost control measures.

What you will bring:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or professional trade.
  2. Minimum of 7 years of experience in facility operations management, with a proven track record in a leadership role. Stadium conversion and/or turf/grass maintenance an asset.
  3. Strong understanding of facility management principles, building systems, and regulatory compliance.
  4. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to develop effective partnerships, negotiate contracts/agreements, and resolve conflict.
  6. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets and financial forecasts.
  7. Proficiency in facility management software and tools.
  8. Willing to work in tandem with pre, post and during events which will include weekends, overnights and evenings.

The salary range for this position is $117,560 - $146,950. Offers will be in line with PavCo’s internal pay equity and qualified candidate’s experience and education. Salary discussion and overall compensation package will be presented during initial phone interviews.
