Director, Enterprise Capital Planning and Portfolio Analysis - (Calgary, AB, Saskatoon, SK, Loveland, Colorado, U.S.A.)

Reporting to the VP, Enterprise Capital, the Director, Enterprise Capital Planning and Portfolio Analysis would be the top expert responsible for capital planning, governance compliance, strategic alignment, and expertise in capital governance software, data sources, and reporting.

What you will do:

  • Accountable for the timely and accurate delivery of Nutrien’s Enterprise monthly capital forecast report, ensuring data integrity and reliability in financial reporting.
    • Leads all Operating Segment and Corporate capital reporting teams (NPKC and Retail) ensuring standardization of data, consistency in report preparation and reliability of data. Reporting processes will enable traceability of data back to project level data.
    • Responsible for understanding of the data to support initial conclusions and recommendations to the ELT to highlight risks and make course corrections.
    • Reporting summaries including risks and recommendations provided as a direct input to ELT level Capital Pipeline Committee monthly meeting for management decision making.
  • Responsible for the development of the consolidated annual capital plan and the 5-year capital plan submissions, coordinating efforts across departments to achieve comprehensive budgeting.
    • Leads all Operating Segment and Corporate capital reporting teams (NPKC and Retail) ensuring timelines and deliverables are communicated. Addresses enterprise wide issues and concerns to ensure ELT requirements are met to support long term strategic planning.
  • Support Nutrien's major projects and programs through the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and stakeholder presentations to align objectives with strategic priorities.
    • Communications provided to the ELT to ensure transparency on risks, issues and recommended actions.
  • Responsible to ensure the Capital Portfolio complies with Nutrien Accounting policies, Nutrien Authority limit policies and Capital Governance policies, maintaining adherence to internal standards and external regulations.
    • Leads all Operating Segment and Corporate capital reporting teams (NPKC and Retail) ensuring that reporting adequately demonstrates adherence to internal standards and regulations. Implements enterprise wide improvements to address gaps or deficiencies identified.
  • Contribute to the alignment of the 5-year plan with company strategy, supporting strategic planning initiatives and long-term goal setting.
    • Leads all Operating Segment and Corporate capital reporting teams (NPKC and Retail) ensuring strategies are communicated, data is recorded and reporting is adequate to demonstrate to the ELT how the spending is aligned with strategy.
  • Serve as a Project Management Software Discipline Expert, specifically for Planisware, enhancing software utilization and project management efficiency.
    • Leads all Operating Segment and Corporate capital reporting teams (NPKC and Retail) ensuring that Planisware remains a viable, efficiency generating tool for operations projects teams. Receives and interprets improvement requests to ensure timely resolution to issues and concerns.

What you will bring:

  • Business related University Degree, preferably with a specialization in Finance, Accounting, or Project Management.
  • 15+ years of directly related experience in Financial Analysis, Project Governance and Operations management.
  • Solid understanding of Nutrien’s business drivers and operating activities is a requirement.
  • The ability to interface with various levels of management from the ELT to project team staff in a multi-task, deadline orientated, team environment.
  • Ability to distill complex issues into clear messages with supporting recommendations that can be easily understood by senior company leaders.
  • Clear understanding of extenuating operational impacts of any change proposed to ensure that it remains focused on improving efficiency while maintaining adequate management control.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, written, and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience in forecast modeling through systems and Excel.
  • Strong Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, proficiency in Excel a must.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others in a proactive, positive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Self-starting attitude with a high energy level, demonstrated success in a fast-paced, and deadline driven environment.
  • Systems oriented thinking.
  • Ability to work with a variety of technological tools in an efficient manner.
  • Sound, professional judgment and subject matter expertise in relevant accounting and finance matters.
  • Highly detail oriented.

Salary Range $140,300 - $260,600 annually. This range is estimated for Director, Enterprise Capital Planning & Analysis role in Loveland, Colorado. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan and long-term incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.
