At the Department of Finance and Treasury Board, we strive to provide financial leadership, analysis and policies that strengthen Nova Scotia. As stewards of the province’s financial affairs, we deliver a wide range of corporate fiscal management services – including the preparation of the provincial budget – as well as ensure government plans are coordinated and fiscally responsible. We are constantly looking for new and better ways to plan, manage, budget, and invest.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Financial Advisory Services (EECD), the Director, Education Funding and Partnerships serves as a primary point of contact for all financial matters of the Regional Centres for Education (RCEs) and conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP). The Director is responsible for the overall management, distribution and appropriate administration of funds in excess of $1.5 billion and provides leadership, advice and direction to these public entities on financial planning and financial management matters. This includes areas of financial operations, financial reporting and analysis, and working directly with senior officials at each of the RCEs and CSAP.
The Director is also the key position for the overall Tangible Capital Assets (TCA) budget and forecast process and ensuring applicable capital transactions of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS), and related policies.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in business administration or commerce, along with a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA; CPA, CGA; CPA, CMA), plus minimum of 5 years financial, management and supervisory experience.

This position is based in a comfortable office environment in Halifax. Standard hours of work are 35 hours/week from Monday to Friday.
Pay Grade: EC 14
Salary Range: $4,461.45- $5,576.81 Bi-Weekly
