Who we need

We are seeking a Director to lead our Sherbourne Early Learning Centre (ELC) team in providing exceptional care and education for young children. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and administration of the ELC, nurturing a joyful, safe learning environment for children, inspiring and guiding the work of staff, and ensuring compliance with all regulations and legislated standards.

In this role, you will:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and legislated standards, including Ministry of Education Licensing standards and Toronto Public Health guidelines.
  • Create and nurture a safe, healthy, supportive environment for children, staff, and families.
  • Develop effective strategies to engage families and community partners.
  • Provide robust, reflective, and responsive leadership, including recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating assigned staff.
  • Manage operations to ensure the safety and financial viability of the Early Learning Centre.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and ensure timely repairs of equipment.

What you bring:

  • A diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and an Early Childhood Management-Leadership certificate.
  • Experience in an early learning/childcare setting, including experience supporting or directly leading staff.
  • An in-depth understanding of early child development and pedagogy.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and familiarity with child care management applications.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
