As Director of Business Development for the Desjardins Business centre in Montreal, you’re responsible for the strategic and operational management of business development teams working in all markets (commercial, real estate and industrial). More specifically, your team will consist of at least 5 business development managers and more than 50 employees, the majority of whom are senior account managers. You draw on your in-depth knowledge of your line of business and the strategic players in your reference market to lead your administrative department and develop its full potential in support of Desjardins’s strategic directions. You draw up and monitor a business plan that addresses priorities, challenges and objectives for all markets. You ensure the performance of your administrative department and provide sound, prudent risk management in accordance with standards. You follow up on results. As a leader of change, you draw on your ability to make quality decisions and drive results to effectively manage your department’s people and performance. You stand out for your ability to develop and motivate your teams to reach business targets, create productive networks of contacts and, above all, ensure the satisfaction of Desjardins members and clients. You serve as a coach and provide tailored advice and recommendations. The unique nature and types of transactions for these markets call for extensive knowledge of complex commercial, real estate and industrial financing files. More specifically, you will be required to:
Support the Vice-President of the Desjardins Business centre by helping to develop business strategies in line with Desjardins’s strategic directions and your reference market.
Provide leadership to help the Desjardins Business centre achieve targets for profitable growth, including wealth management for businesses and entrepreneurs in collaboration with specialized teams.
Implement and monitor the administrative department’s action plan in line with strategic issues and target results for performance management purposes.
Implement and develop a competitive, profitable service offer that incorporates partnerships with other components and elevates the member/client experience.
Help the Vice-President make recommendations and decisions based on strategic issues and priorities.
Help the Vice-President present these priorities to the coordination committee, as needed, and at caisse meetings.
Ensure accountability for results and implement corrective measures as needed.
Establish management and communication practices that support people engagement, talent attraction and retention, team synergy, skills development, EDI principles and change management, in keeping with Desjardins’s values.
Ensure optimal risk management for the overall portfolio.
Promote the Desjardins Business centre with key players in the business market related to your reference market.
Establish, maintain and develop a strong network of contacts to ensure Desjardins is top-of-mind for all sectors (commercial, real estate and industrial).
Ensure quality for services and business relationships, and oversee the member/client experience.
Integrate Desjardins Group’s cooperative values into the Desjardins Business centre’s business and management practices, and help Desjardins caisses do the same.

What you bring to the table
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
A minimum of ten years of relevant experience.

Strong communication skills in both French and English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients.
